  Paul Louis Birling, 62, Appleton, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center. Paul was born on June 8, 1950 to the late Richard and Shirley (Robinson) Birling. He was a 1968 graduate of Neenah High School. After graduation he attended Madison Area Technical College where he received his degree in Commercial Art Design. Paul was an illustrator and graphic designer his entire career. He was first employed with Liebold and Associates of Neenah. After that he took a position with Ads Infinitum, Inc. of Appleton. He then started his own business, Paul Birling Illustrations. Most recently he worked with Krause Publications of Iola until his retirement. Paul loved time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid race car fan and driver and was a member of the Sports Car Club of America. He also loved watching movies. He will be sadly missed by five children; Chris Birling, Menasha, Bryan (Tracey) Birling, Kiel, Sarah (Pete) Petoniak, Green Bay, Abigail (Phil) Wylie, Lexington, SC and David Winkler, Appleton, eight grandchildren; Emory, Brady, Brock, Anna, Chase, Jake, Henry and Georgia, life partner and best friend, Mary Birling, siblings, Linda (Mike) Jacobson, Portland, ME, Dave (Marianne) Birling, Appleton, Cindy (Mark) Krause, Town of Harrison, Bruce Birling, Gulf Shores, AL, Layne (Denise) Birling, Phoenix, AZ, sister-in-law Katrina Birling, Kimberly, as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mark Birling. A celebration of Paul's life will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Visitation will be from 4:30-6:00 P.M. followed immediately by family remarks and prayer at Valley Funeral Home of Appleton. Online condolences may be expressed at www.valleyfh.com. The family would like to thank the staff of Appleton Medical Center ICU for the care given to Paul in the last several weeks. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
