  Fond du Lac. - That age can expect no concessions from death was clearly exhibited here at Fond du Lac Tuesday when a 73-year-old Chilton grandmother and her one-month-old granddaughter died of injuries received when the auto they were riding in was crushed by a North Western road passenger train at the W. Johnson and Brooke streets crossing. Four other persons, all relatives of the two dead persons, were injured in the crash. The dead: Mrs. Mary Schwobe, route 3, Chilton. Marlene Schwobe, the baby. The injured: Elmer Schwobe, 16, route 3, Chilton, most critically injured of the four is suffering from severe scalp lacerations and abdominal wounds. Mrs. Henry Schwobe, 31, mother of the dead child. The mother will recover. Return From Shopping Trip Mrs. Glenroy Schwobe, 24, Chilton, less seriously injured. Mrs. George Wettstein, 20, of 236 W. Follett street, Fond du Lac. She will recover. All of the injured were taken to St. Agnes hospital in Fond du Lac for examination and treatment. The tragedy occurred as the six persons were on their way to the Wettstein home following a happy shopping trip in down-town Fond du Lac. Railroad officials said the automobile, driven by Mrs. Glenroy Schwobe, ran directly into the path of the southbound train. The vehicle was demolished and wreckage was strewn for from 50 to 100 feet in every direction. All of the car passengers were thrown clear of the wreckage except Mrs . Mary Schwobe who was pinned beneath the mass of twisted steel. Dr, A. C. Florin, Fond du Lac county coroner, was called to investigate the two deaths. Attaches of St. Agnes hospital at Fond du Lac said at noon today that Elmer Schwobe's condition was still very critical. Of the other three injured persons it was said that they were "doing as well as expected." The three injured women were suffering mostly from shock. Funerals Announced Mrs. Mary Schwobe, nee Mary Egerer, was born in the town of Chilton in 1864. She was married to Henry Schwobe on October 2, 1888. Her husband preceded her in death a number of years ago. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Frank Wettstein, Mrs. Otto Veit, Mrs. Norbert Thielmann, all of Calumet county, and Mrs. Albert Propson, Marytown; four sons, Joseph, Andrew, Henry and Glenroy, all of the town of Chilton; two brothers, Philip and Anton Egerer, of the town of Chilton. Twenty-one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. A son, Frank, was killed in an auto crash near Chilton last August 24. Funeral services for Mrs. Schwobe will be held at 10 a. m. Friday at St. Elizabeth's church at Kloten. Last rites for 1-month-old Marlene will be conducted at the Holy Trinity church in Jericho at 8 a.m. Friday. The funeral services were held at St. Elizabeth's church, Kloten where Rev. Harry Schueller read the requiem mass. Two hours before the last rites of Mrs. Schwobe were conducted little Marlene Schwobe, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schwobe, who died in the same accident was buried from Holy Trinity church in Jericho with the Rev.
