  Betty O Heckert, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2017. Betty was born October 10, 1927, the daughter of late Owen and Edith (Wildfang) Kuether. She grew up in Appleton Wisconsin where she met the love of her life Herman Heckert. They were married on April 26, 1947. Betty was a secretary for several companies in the Fox Valley for over fifty years. In 1987 Betty along with Herman retired to Arbutus Lake in Forest county Wisconsin. She enjoyed boat rides and swimming with family and friends. They eventually moved to Florida due to Wisconsin's cold winters and spent 20 plus years enjoying the warm weather. In 2010 Betty moved back to Appleton after Herman passed away. Being an independent woman Betty found a retirement villa where she shared her love of cooking and sewing with her friends and grandkids. Betty will be missed by her son: Richard Heckert; daughter in law Debbie Heckert; grandsons: Tim (Dale) Heckert and Kevin (Cody) Heckert; her great grandchildren Gretchen, Eliese, Gracie, Jacob and Max. In addition to her parents Betty is further preceded in death by her husband Herman, her son Jerry Heckert, and her brothers Don and Wayne. A time of sharing for Betty will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Appleton Highland Memorial Park (3131 North Richmond St). A visitation will be held at 9:00 am until the time of sharing. Inurnment will follow the time of sharing. The Heckert family would like to thank the 4th floor staff of St Elizabeth Hospital, Affinity Hospice care, and Rennes Health & Rehab Center for the wonderful care and compassion.
