McCarty of this city, who has been at the hospital in Oshkosh re ceiving medical treatment, departed this life last Wednesday morning. T he sad intelligence was not wholly unlooked for my his relatives here, f or he has been suffering for two years past from the effects of a stro ke of Paralysis, and all knew that it was only a question of time wh en he must be taken to that borne from whence no traveler returns. Therefo re the news of his death did not carry with it the shock that a sudden a nd unexpected one would. The deceased was born at Kenosha, March 4, 1855 , and w as therefore 45 years of age last Sunday. Three years later his parents, M r. and Mrs. Dennis McCarty, settled upon their old homestead a few miles n orth of this city, where Dan was raised into manhood. He therefore is kno wn as one of the early pioneers of Kaukauna, for besides having spend h is entire life here, he had with the exception of a few years, resided aft er reaching manhood, in the city. He was one of the builders and owne rs of the old Twin City hall which was erected and operated as the north s ide's place of amusement in the early '80's and which subsequently was des troyed by fire. He also served as alderman several years when the city w as first incorporated, and at one time was marshal. His entire life as wi ll readily be seen has been identified with Kaukauna, where so many frien ds deeply regretted his misfortune a couple of years ago when he was stric ken with paralysis at Wilson Mich., where he was then conducting a stavemi ll, and who now again drop a tear at his departure. Deceased was united in marriage to Miss Lizzie Murray in this city, Novemb er 2, 1882, who with five children - two boys and three girls, survive him . The remains were brought home from Oshkosh Wednesday evening on the 6:25 p assenger and the funeral occurred at 9 o'clock this morning from the Ho ly Cross Church, being very largely attended.
