I'm wondering if you have any more information on where Orville Orsinger lived growing up, and perhaps if it might be the Rogers Park neighborhood on Chicago's north side. My Mom (who passed away in 2001) told stories about her childhood friend, Orville Orsinger. With a name like that, it can't be too common! One of my Mom's stories was that as kids they would climb the neighborhood trees, and the status thing to do was to carve your initials as high in a tree as possible. She told how that made for a contest between her initials "HH" (for Helen Hertle) and "OO"! From your RootsWeb ID, it sounds like you might be in San Diego. I wish I had happened upon your site earlier, as my Mom's brother lived in Oceanside for many years before he also died a couple of years ago. He might have been able to tell more.
