  Vander Heiden,Edward MartinAge 96, formerly of 1302 Franklin St. De Pere. Ed was born November 24, 19 06 in De Pere the son of the late Bernard and Mary (Coenen) Vander Heide n. He attended St Paul's and Sniderville schools in Wrightstown. Ed was em ployed by Broadway Garage, Green Bay Auto Parts, the City of De Pere, a nd retired from C.A. Lawton in 1972. On September 29, 1931 he married Melv ina Meulemans at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown and the couple en joyed over 66 years together. Melvina preceded Ed in death on September 1 3, 1998. Ed was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he was an ush er for over 60 years. He was a member of the Catholic Knights, Catholic Or der of Foresters, St. Mary Holy Name Society, and the International Associ ation of Machinist. Ed was a kind, gentle and generous man. Ed could fix a lmost anything and took great pride in repairing many cars and lawn mowe rs for friends and relatives. He picked many raspberries, plums and clean ed and shared many hickory nuts. He enjoyed playing Sheephead, gardenin g, and sharing his vegetables with others.Ed is survived by a brother Raymond (Rosella) Vander Heiden, Neenah, siste r, Catherine Kortz, Kaukauna, Sister-in-law, Mary Vander Heiden, Kaukaun a, special nieces and nephews, Laura and Jim Kessler, Carol and Lee Kort z, Richard Vander Heiden and numerous nieces and nephews. Special cousin s, Don and Mary Jane Van Remortel and Marie Albers.Ed was preceded in death by his wife Melvina, his parents, brothers, Franc is, Richard, Leo, brother-in-law, Kirby Kortz, and sister-in-law Anne Vand er Heiden.Friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home 860 N. Webster Ave. De Pere fr om 4 to 8p.m. Friday Parish prayer service will be held at 7p.m. Friday. V isitation will continue after 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Commun ity, Pope John XXIII Circle off Sportsman Dr., Town of Ledgeview, Ma ss of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. John H. Ha rper officiating, Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowe rs, memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Community, De Pere.Ed's family is deeply grateful for the care and love given to Ed at the Re naissance, De Pere, and would also like to thank Dr. Asma, Fr Jack Harpe r, Kathy De Noble and the many people who cared about Ed and visited him o ver the many years.
