  Elwyn T. Long, Jr., son of Elwyn and Marcia (Kubiak) Long, Sr., passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016, after a short illness. He was born on September 20, 1931. He was raised in Menasha and graduated from Menasha High School where he excelled in football and hurdles. He worked at Banta's, Kimberly Clark, and finally at Marathon (American Can, Pechiney Alcan, etc.). He worked as a pressman and retired as a Solvent Still recovery Operator after 30 some years. He raced stock cars before he was legal at the local tracks like Oshkosh and Apple Creek. Later he traveled to many and different types of races. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting in North Dakota, riding his motorcycle, and being with friends and family. He was a member of Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church and past member of the Winnebago County Sheriff's Auxiliary Police with 11 years of service and also a past member of the Oshkosh Aces Motor Cycle Club. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Shirley (Rosenthal); daughter, Teena (Scott) Thums and their children, Holley and Kenny; step-daughter, Christine (Rodney) Dietzen and their children, Evan and Walker; his many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Dennis. Elwyn was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Erwin and Ruth Rosenthal; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Marcella Long; and a granddaughter, Amanda Thums. Funeral services will be on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church with Reverend Cathy Weiland officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon with service to follow. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. The family would like to thank the staffs at Mercy Medical Center, Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation, and Park View Health Center for his care. Published in Appleton Post-Crescent on Apr. 11, 2016
