They lived in a small house at Mandan, North Dakota. When Anna was a lmost eight years old her Mother died in the flu epidemic of 1918. They t han went to live with their Aunt Susie Durupt in Stutsman County, ND. Wh en her father remarried they lived with him for awhile. After her father d ied they went back to Aunt Susie's. She pretty much grew up and lived wi th her Aunt Susie. She did not talk much about her Mother except about a ll having the flu and how sick they were. She never talked much about h er stepmother. She did talk alot about Susie, how hard she worked and abo ut all the children she raised. Anna always had a fondness for horses a nd when they retired she and EJ became owners of several thorough bred hor ses. She worked in the Cafe called "The Grill" that Wedman's owned in J amestown. She than sp it the seeds out to spread them around she and the birds progated al ot of chokecherry trees. All ten of their children went to Catholic Sch ool the older ones first in Jamestown, a little while at the country scho ol on the corner at Georgetown, than to Sacred Heart in Fargo. They boug ht a house at 1236 Bdwy so their children could go to Catholic Schoo l. It was a less than a block from Sacred Heart later Shanley when it w as built. Every fall they would move into town for school than back to t he farm in the spring. She and EJ were charter members of Holy Spirit Church in Fargo, ND. The s chool was built first and Mass was held in the gym until the Church was fi nished, their son Dan was in the first class to graduate from the new Chu rch.Note She shows up as A nora on the 1930 census with the Durupts
