Kippenhan, Jr. "Val" was an executive at Sears. Helen committed suicide, by turning on the gas and sticking her head in a gas oven (ugh). I believe Val died on 29 Nov 1944. The source is a little notebook in the possession of John E. Kippenhan (San Jose, Calif.) - the kind of book one uses to keep track of birthdays, etc. I believe he notebook was the property of John's aunt, Zilah (Cilla). I always thought Cilla was a shorened version of Priscilla; i've seen baptism records, and her name was really Zilah
