  Kussow, Lester ?Bill? Lester ?Bill? Kussow, 85, De Pere, went home to be with God on Sept. 14, 2005, at a local nursing home. The son of the late Edgar and Esther (Rasmussen) Kussow was born Nov. 23, 1919, in the the town of Lawrence. On Oct. 14, 1942, he married the former Viola Vandenberg in the town of Freedom. She preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 1995. Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He served in the European Theater. He worked for Nicolet Paper Company for many years prior to his retirement in 1987. Mr. Kussow was a member of the Eagles Club, De Pere VFW Post 2113 and St. John Lutheran Church. Although sometimes gruff on the exterior, Bill had a helpful side that he shared with his family and friends. Dad loved working outside, taking care of his yard, and fixing things in his garage. He was a hard worker all of his life. Survivors include his children, Mary and Dan Loos, Mary and Bob Vanden Berg, Helen and Hank Van Noie, Donna Lefebvre, Charles and Sharon Kussow, Lori and Randy Becks, and John Kussow; 19 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Austin (Doris ) Boncher; two aunts, Verna Kussow and Lois Kussow. He was also survived by a brother-in-law, Arnold Vandenberg; four sisters-in-law, Renata Vandenberg, Betty Vandenberg, Margaret and Marv Vander Velden, and Mary and Bob Weyenberg. His is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins & a special Godchild Jane Lambert. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Viola, and son, Art Kussow, and one great-granddaughter, Jade Lefebvre. Friends may call at St. John Lutheran Church, Scheuring Road at Lost Dauphin Road, De Pere from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church with the Rev. Steven Apfel, officiating. Burial in Lawrence Cemetery.
