  FOREST GROVE - Lena Marie Hendricks, 91, Forest Grove, died Dec. 13, 1990, at Maryville Nursing Home in Beaverton of causes related to aging. Recitation of the Holy Rosary and a Mass of Christian Buriel were held Monday evening at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Gurmann officiating, assisted by the Revs. Scott Vandehery of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Eugene and Dennis O'Donovan of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church in Beaverton. Vault entombment was this morning in Mountain View Memorial Garden. Mrs. Hendricks was born Nov. 8, 1899, in Greenville, the sixth of 11 children of Cornelius and Catherine VanDomelen Vandehey. She was the last child in the family to be born in the family's log cabin north of Greenville. She was raised on a farm in the Roy area and worked with the family in the fields. On Aug 24, 1920, she married George L. Hendricks at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Roy. They lived in Forest Grove, where her husband ran a milk truck line sevicing Scoggins Valley. He also started the Forest Grove School Bus LIne and did experimental seed farming for the Burlingham Feed and Seed. Mrs Hendricks was a homemaker caring for their nine children and doing quilting, crocheting and embroidery. In 1941 they moved to a farm west of Forest Grove. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens and sold eggs and butter to local merchants and made her own soap. She was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters. Her husband died Sept. 4, 1959. Survivors include a son, Roland Hendricks, Pleasant Hill, and six daughter, Mrs. Wilford (Irene) Kalsch, Hillsboro, Mrs. David (Beulah) Spiring, Mrs. Robert (Flora) VandeBergh, Donna Hendricks, Mrs. Dennis (Joan) Herb and Mrs. Ron (Wanda) Rau, all of Forest Grove. Also surviving are 37 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Anthony Vandehey, Roy and a sister, Hannah Vanderzanden, Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by sons Richard and Charles, brothers Hank, Gus, George , Charlie and Alfred, and sisters, Lizzie West, Chris Cop and Cecilia Vuylsteke. The family suggests memorial contrubutions to the Alzheimers Society, Maryville Nursing Home or St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Forest Grove Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
