  Boettcher, Merlin R.Merlin R. Boettcher, age 79, of 219 E. Water St. in Brillion, died on Sund ay, January 9, 2005 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born on J une 3, 1925 in Brillion, son of the late Robert and Stella (Krueger) Boett cher. He worked at the Brillion Iron Works for 47 years. Merlin serv ed in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He served in the 5th Divi sion during the battle of Iwo Jima and was in the occupational forces in J apan for nine months.He was an original member of the Brillion Conservation Club and was al so a member of the Becker Bloedorn Jensen American Legion Post #126 of Bri llion.He is survived by three sisters: Pearl (Florian) Stocker, Appleton; Gerald ine Koves, Brillion; June (Joe) Camarillo, Brillion; a special nephew, Den nis (Mary) Prince, Carterville, IL; and many other nieces, nephews and fri ends.He was preceded in death by five sisters: Marion Manguson, LeMeryle Wambol dt, Mellan Eickert, Elaine Boettcher and Violet Seibers.Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, 20 05 at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion. The Rev. Marc Axelrod will off iciate. Burial will be in the Brillion City Cemetery. Friends may ca ll at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesd ay and then on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
