Verstegen, Charlotte C. "Chotty" , Charlotte Verstegen, 79, Little Chute, died with her loving family by her side, Wednesday, August 5, 2009, following a lengthy journey with Alzheimer's. She was born November 29, 1929, in Larsen, daughter of Angus and Beatrice (Furman) Clark. Charlotte married Joseph G. Verstegen August 1, 1951, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute and he preceded her in death December 5, 2005. She was a graduate of Winneconne High School and Oshkosh Secretarial School. Mrs. Verstegen was employed with AFLAC for 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, and volunteered with the American Cancer Society. Charlotte enjoyed cooking and golfing. She was a talented baker and excelled in baking, winning numerous baking awards. Charlotte truly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Charlotte is survived by her children: Eileen (Rick) Van Roy, Little Chute; Philip Verstegen and fiancee Alice Carlson, Greenville; Greg (Sheryl) Verstegen, Little Chute; Shirley Verstegen (Ken Meurer), Chicago, IL; Marsha Grebe (Mike Zedler), Menasha; nine grandchildren: Brad (Kelly) Van Roy, Dan Van Roy and special friend Andrea Larson, Katie Van Roy, Chad Hanson, Justin (Carly) Verstegen, Shelley (Aaron) Pakala, Caleb Verstegen and special friend Clair Reynebeau, Jason (Lisa) Grebe, Emily (Chad) Mykel; 6 great-grandchildren: Ella, Brenna, Bryson, Aubree, Haley and Madisyn; sister, Gwen (Richard) Elias, St. Paul, MN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Bernice Vander Velden; Irene (Don) Peeters; Ida (James) Peeters; Joanne Hawley; Marie Verstegen; Loretta Hoelzel; Elton Knutson; nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Angus and Beatrice Clark; two brothers, James and Philip Clark; three sisters: Joan Knutson, Nia Clark, Genevieve (Charles) Worby; brothers-and sisters-in-law: Aloysius, Lester (Peg), Clarence, Gerald (Margaret), Robert (Lillian), Carl, Ernest (Ann) Verstegen; Regina (Clarence) Bouressa; Joseph Vander Velden; a grandson-in-law, Shane Lorenz-Roche. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2009, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine St., Little Chute, with Fr. David Funk O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and at the church from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the mass. A memorial has been established for St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and the Alzheimer's Association. Charlotte's family wishes to thank Care Partners for their loving care and compassion.
