    Obituary:
    Spletter, Norman J.Appleton Age 87, passed away on Friday morning, February 15, 2008 at his home. He was born on February 29, 1920 in Forest Junction, Wisconsin to the late Julius and Grace (Broehm) Spletter. Norman was a 1938 graduate of Appleton High School and went on to proudly serve his country with the United States Army Air Corp during WWII in the Philippines and in Okinawa. In August of 1941 he was united in marriage to his former wife, Mary Kelly. Most recently Norman owned a tax business in Blythe, California. He was a proud member of the Appleton VFW, the Appleton American Legion, the Clintonville American Legion, and Riverview Evangelical Lutheran Church. Norman was a fun-loving, sociable person who enjoyed attending various Polka Festivals, Polka dancing, playing the accordion and he taught many children the Chicken Dance over the years. He was known to help strangers in times of need. Norman always said that he will not be at his funeral because he will be teaching the Angels how to Polka.
    He is survived by his children: Daniel Spletter, Corona Del Mar, CA, Mary Jane (Jeff Robbins) Spletter, Berkeley, CA; Sally (Dave) Schoenke, Appleton; three grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister: Inez Tews, Menasha; brother: Leon Spletter, Appleton; former wife Mary Knaack, Stephensville; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Harry Tews; and sister-in-law: Dorothy Spletter.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Riverview Evangelical Lutheran Church (136 West Seymour Street) with Rev. Dennis W. Belter officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman's name can be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Sue and Bruce Benning and Dave and Beverly Nygaard for the help that they've given to Norman over the years.

    Norman married Kelly, Mary Elizabeth Abt 1941. Mary (daughter of Kelly, Thomas and Doran, Mary) was born 8 Sep 1919, Ellington, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA; died 2 Sep 2010; was buried , St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Stephensville, Wisconsin, USA. [Group Sheet]
