Obituary:
Edward Wulterkens St. Paul Home, Kaukauna Age 86, passed away Sunday following a short illness. He was born June 19, 1885 in Uden, Holland and came to America in 1909. He retired from the Kimberly Clark Corp. in 1950 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Kimberly Clark Corp. Quarter Century Club. He was preceded in death by his wife Dora, August 17, 1951 and a son Joseph, September 25, 1960. He was a charter member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Ann) Vander Heiden, and Mrs. Nyles )lydia) Manley, both of Combined Locks; seven sons, Theodore, Kenosha, Harvey and Conrad, both of Kimberly, John, Combined Locks, Leo, Syracust, N.Y., Louis, Rt. 4 Appleton, Robert, Appleton, a brother Henry, Combined Locks, 33 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral sevices will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning at St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks with interment in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Jansen Funeral Home Tuesday after 3 p.m. and the Wake service will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Hank Wulterkens, age 77, Combined Locks, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday morning, March 2, 2010. Hank was born in Combined Locks on December 19, 1932, son of the late Henry and Gertrude (Gunsing) Wulterkens. On February 10, 1953, he married the former Carol Smits at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. For over forty years, Hank was employed by Appleton Papers Locks Mill in a variety of positions.
The village residents will remember Hank for his familiar face around town, as he served as a firefighter, Assistant Fire Chief, Village Trustee, and President of the Advancement Association. He was also active at St. Paul Catholic Church as an usher, lector, and Eucharistic minister. He and Carol enjoyed their time together traveling about the United States and Holland, and everyone will remember Hank as an excellent Trivial Pursuit player. He seldom turned down the opportunity to visit the casino!
Over the years, the family had cottages on the Wolf River near New London, as well as on Lake Poygan. There you could usually find Hank fishing, sitting near the fire, or tending his smoker. His family will always recall his ability to work with wood -- he built the family home at the age of twenty-one, and over the years he made dozens of items which he happily shared with family and friends.
Hank is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Carol Wulterkens of Combined Locks; four children: Richard (Diane) Wulterkens, Stanley; Nancy Appleton, Neenah; Lori (Richard) Strick, Combined Locks; and John (Dawn) Wulterkens, Darboy. There are nine grandchildren: Samuel (Heather) Wulterkens, Stuart Wulterkens, Benjamin Wulterkens, Jacob (Tina) Appleton, Amber (Jacob Torres) Appleton, Adam Strick, Leanna Strick, Aubrey Wulterkens, and Marissa Wulterkens; five great-grandchildren: Bella and Gianna Wulterkens, Violet and Samantha Appleton, and Lennon Torres; the family is also eagerly awaiting the arrival of three more great-grandchildren. Hank is also survived by two sisters: Dorothy (John) Peeters, Shiocton and Leone Kuhns, Springfield, Missouri. Other survivors include Carol's family: Jane Romenesko of Little Chute, Joyce (James) Williams of Hilbert, Kenneth (Jan) Smits of Combined Locks, Florian (Grace) Smits of Winneconne, Phyllis Smits of Kimberly, and Elizabeth Smits of Combined Locks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-in-law: Charles Kuhns, Eugene Romenesko, John Smits, Ronald Smits, and an infant Clarus Smits.
The Funeral Liturgy for Hank will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street in Combined Locks with Fr. Jim Lucas and Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday afternoon from 3 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Carol worked as a cook at the Lox Club, and then as a clerk at the Kimberly Pharmacy. She enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and sheepshead. Carol and Gene loved to travel, taking trips to Texas and Florida, and two Caribbean cruises. She also loved to fish with Gene, and was fond of sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Carol was an avid golfer, and achieved a hole-in-one on the 12th hole at Fox Valley Golf Club.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Eugene; seven children, Sheryl (Greg) Verstegen, Rick (Brenda) Haase, Sarah (Pete) Linzmeier, Rob (Paula) Haase, Jaime (Betsy) Haase, Chris (Becky) Haase, and Matt (fiance Sarah Vander Loop) Haase; grandchildren, Justin (Carly) Verstegen, Shelley (Aaron) Pakala, Caleb (fiance Clair) Verstegen, Aubrey (Nick) Hunstad, Eric Haase, Shelby and Shawn Linzmeier, Teagan and Tyann Haase, Tia (Fred) Sandusky, and Tyler, Brooke, and Samantha Haase; great-grandchildren, Conrad Pakala, Weston Verstegen, and Carson and Dakota Sandusky; and her sisters, Janet (Dick) Verbeten, Doris Dolan, Laurie (Jeff) Vander Velden, and Barbara Vanderheiden. She is further survived by her step-children, Gary Stuyvenberg, Debbie (Tom) Pieters, Diane (Joe) Deering, Greg (Kris) Stuyvenberg, and Cheryl (Chuck) Du-Chateau; step-grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) Pieters, Aubrey Pieters, Travis (special friend Kim) Jansen, Cody Deering, and Ian and Quin Stuyvenberg; step-great-granddaughter, Ella Pieters; and many other relatives and friends.
She was further preceded in death by a son, Paul Haase, and a brother-in-law, Tom Dolan.
The funeral liturgy for Carol will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly, with Fr. David Beaudry officiating. Friends may call on Monday, June 13, 2011, at the JANSEN-FARGO FUNERAL HOME, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Memorial contributions in Carol's name may be made to ThedaCare Hospice, or to Holy Spirit Parish.

Audrey J. DeBroux, 78, Kaukauna, passed away peacefully as a result of Alzheimer's Disease on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Audrey was born in Kimberly on September 13, 1935 to Theodore and Mildred (Muthig) Wulterkens. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1953. Audrey married the love of her life, Melvin DeBroux on August 27, 1955 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. On the way home from their first date at the Nightingale Ballroom, Mel said to himself "I am going to marry this beautiful girl". She loved bowling, knitting afghans for her family and friends, raising their five children and being home for them every day when they returned home from school and visiting with her ten grandchildren. She also loved to attend the many concerts and plays that her children and grandchildren were a part of. Audrey enjoyed attending Brewers Games with her children and grandchildren and cheering on the Packers. Two of her passions were travel, visiting all the lower 48 states, Mexico and five provinces of Canada as well as dancing to big band music. Audrey, along with her husband Mel were devout Catholics and were extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at Holy Cross Catholic Church for over 35 years.
Audrey will be sadly missed by her husband Mel, three daughters: Susan (Chris) Dietzen, Mazomanie, WI, Cynthia (Tony) Huss, Kaukauna, Lynn (Ken) Hacker, Oconomowoc, two sons: Mark (Mary) DeBroux, Appleton, Daniel (Melaney) DeBroux, El Cajon, CA, grandchildren Donald Dietzen, Tracy (Tim) Drager, Amber Huss, Kevin (Brittany) Huss, Adam (Zabrina) DeBroux, Nicholas DeBroux, Andrew DeBroux, David DeBroux, Scott Hacker and Emily Hacker, great-grandchildren Christine Hooker and Jamesin Lee Cornelius-Logan. Funeral Services will be held on Monday November 11, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna at 11:30 am with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday November 10, 2013 at Fargo Funeral Home of Kaukauna from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and at church on Monday from 9:30 to 11:30 am.
