    Obituary:
    Douglas Ogilvie, of Hortonville, passed away on Sunday evening, March 17, 2013 at the age of 94. Doug was born in Appleton on February 17, 1919, son of the late Alex and Dorothy (Grimmond) Ogilvie of Appleton. He attended Appleton schools through high school. In 1937, enrolled at the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Engineering and attended for two years. In 1941, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. On May 6, 1950, he married the former Myrtle Baumann, who was the daughter of Edwin and Etta Baumann of Edgar, Wisconsin. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. Doug was discharged from the service in 1945 after serving as an instructor and flight engineer, and flew with the 14th Air Force in China. During his career, he flew some forty missions throughout China and The Hump. He was awarded the Air Medal and Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross, and the India-Burma Campaign Medal.
    Upon his return to Appleton, he was hired by Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. as a Sales Engineer. He purchased the company in the early 1960's, and later became President and Chief Executive Officer and served as Chairman of the Board from 1958 until his retirement in 1987.
    During his professional career, Doug was a board member of the Truck Body Equipment Association, president of the Utility Equipment Dealers Association, and president of the Fire Apparatus Manufacturers Association. His community involvement includes serving as an Advisor for the YMCA and served as president of the Y's Men's Club in 1960, served as alderman on the city council from 1960 until 1965, was president of the Outagamie County Historical Society in 1975, was an advisor to the Community Foundation of the Fox Valley, was a board member for the State of Wisconsin Historical Society, was a member and program chairman for the Kiwanis Club, and was a faithful member of Memorial Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday School and served as an elder. He was awarded the Walter Rugland Community Service award in 1995, received Rotary International's Paul Harris Fellowship in 1997 and the Veterans Memorial Award in 1997, received the Wisconsin State Historical Merit Award, the Masonic Lodge Service Award, and the Appleton Street Car Restoration Award in 1988, the Appleton High School Service Award in 2001, the YMCA West Service Award, the Lifetime Philanthropy Award in 2008, and the very first Pierce Manufacturing Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
    Doug is survived by his loving wife: Myrtle Ogilvie of Hortonville; seven children: Diane (Garth) Schneider, Lynn VanSchyndel, David (Patricia) Ogilvie, Amy (Gary) Cebulski, Mary (Alan) Seefeld, Andy (Connie) Ogilvie, and Ann (Joel) Huebner. There are fifteen grandchildren: Robert (Jen) Friebel, Kay (Ryan) Myers, Dustin (Cody) Ogilvie, Michelle (Rene) L'Esperance, Gregory (Sara) Cebulski, Bradley (fiancée Vanessa) Cebulski, Jaclyn (fiancé Jon) Cebulski, Julia (Jordan) Hoesley, David (Michelle) Seefeld, Emily (fiancé Dustin) Seefeld, Joshua Ogilvie, Matthew Ogilvie, Alisa Huebner, Kayla Huebner, and Heidi Huebner. There are also five great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Lindsey, Leila, Natalie, and Mikaiah.
    Doug was preceded in death by his parents, a brother William (Janice) Ogilvie, a sister Dorothy (Milton) Wiesner, and a son-in-law Hank VanSchyndel
    Funeral services for Doug will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 803 E. College Avenue in Appleton, with Rev. Michael Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home in Appleton on Thursday evening from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and again Friday at the church from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com. Memorial funds are being established for the History Museum at the Castle and the Fox West YMCA
    The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the many caregivers that have touched our lives. They include Dr. Vogel and the staff at Brewster Village, as well as everyone at Touchmark on Prospect and the hospice workers from Theda Care at Home. We will always remember your kindness to our family.
