Stoffel, Irene C.Irene C. Stoffel, of Appleton, age 85, died Wednesday, July 26th, 200 6, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center. Irene was born May 9, 192 1, in Little Chute to the late Fred and Anna (Schumacher) Van Handel. On J une 17, 1948, she married George Stoffel at St. John Catholic Church in Li ttle Chute. The couple enjoyed over 52 years together until his death in 2 001. Other than helping out on the family farm, Irene worked in the kitch en and helped clean at the Silver Dome in Greenville, and also at Biggar 's Hotel in Appleton. Irene loved to travel and shop.She was very active at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton for many yea rs where she belonged to the Christian Mothers. Most recently she was a me mber at St. Pius Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Marian Rosa ry Group.Irene will be sadly missed by her son, Dennis (Sheri) Stoffel, of Windso r, CA; four daughters: Yvonne (Gunter) Manning, of Neenah; Sandy (Peter II I) Kooiman, Appleton; Debbie (Vern) Sumnicht, Appleton; and Lori (Innocen t) Altraide, of Appleton; 12 grandchildren: Christopher and Tiffany Stoffe l, Windsor, CA; Peter, Andy, Sarah, Amy, and Anna Kooiman; Michaela and Jo shua Sumnicht; Nathan, Brianna, and Dylan VanDerLoop, all of Appleton; h er great-granddaughter, Ashlee Beckett; four brothers: Arthur Van Hande l, of Appleton; Bill (Lorna) Van Handel, Darboy; Richard (Grace) Van Hande l, Kaukauna; and Erv (Ruth) Van Handel, Glendale, WI; three sisters: Agn es Smudde, Freedom; Ursula (Clarence) Vanden Heuvel, Little Chute; and Aud rey VanCamp, of De Pere; a brother-in-law, Jerome Van Lanen, Little Chut e; six sisters-in-law: Janet Van Handel, Kaukauna; Lorraine Blazek, Applet on; Mary Neuman, Greenville; Agnes Van Heuklon, Appleton; Julie Vissers, A ppleton; and Sally Schcroth, Appleton. She is further survived by many nie ces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents, a brother Ma tt Van Handel, two sisters: Catherine Van Lanen and Marie Dombrowski.The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 31s t, at St. Pius Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with the R ev. Thomas Farrell officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, July 30th fr om 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chape l, and directly at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of ser vice. Parish Prayer Service 5:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel on Sunday. Ent ombment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of oth er expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Irene's dear frien ds Dorothy Kluess and Cheri Bossell for all the love and care shown to Ire ne through the years.Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer 606 N.
