Obituary:
Richard G. "Dick" Puffer, age 83 of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. He was born on January 12, 1932, in Appleton to the late Waldo and Genevieve (Courtois) Puffer. He graduated from Appleton High School, and joined the Untied States Army, serving his country in the Korean War. On October 25, 1958, he married Betty Jane Nienke. Richard enjoyed reading, gardening and volunteering at the Fox Valley Humane Society. He was a member of the American Legion Post 38, the VFW Post 2778 and the Kaukauna Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty, children; Robin (Alan) Gibson, Rick Puffer, Lynn Puffer and Beth (Carol Wanek) Puffer, grandchildren; Christopher (Becky) Gibson, Tyler (Laura) Gibson, Jordan (Laura) Gibson, Conner Gibson, Alex (fiancée Kelsey Chase) Puffer and Grant Puffer, great grandchildren; Peyton Gibson, Nolan Gibson, Nora Gibson, Hailey Chase and another great grandchild due in August. Richard is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Dick in death are his parents, an infant brother, his brother, Jack (Marion) Puffer and grandson, Nicholas Gibson.
A memorial service for Richard will be held at 3:30pm, Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N. Oneida St, Appleton, with Rev. Lloyd Luedeman officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30pm until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Dick's name.
