    Van Gompel, Anna Marie Van Thu ll; 1700 Midway Road, MenashaFormerly of 1100 Lakeshore Dr., Menasha, age 89, died Wednesday, July 2, 2 003 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center. She was born January 24, 1914 in K imberly, daughter of Anton and Marie (DeLeeuw) Van Thull. Anna Marie marri ed Norbert Van Gompel in 1954 and he preceded her in death April 22, 198 5. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Menasha. Anna was empl oyed with the family bakery, Van Thull Bakery, Kimberly for many years a nd managed the business with her step-mother after her father's death. S he was then employed with Best Bakery which later became associated with M anderfield's Bakery. After retiring, she was a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul.Mrs. Van Gompel is survived by a step-daughter, Judy Knowles, Menasha a nd her children: Jay (Susan) Knowles, Appleton; Joe (Carolyn) Knowles, She rwood and Jacci (Andrew) Millard, Neenah; a foster son, Paul Burke, Applet on; JoAnn Burke, Freedom; their children: Aron (Sarah Burke) Rasmussen, Fr eedom; Anna Burke, Chicago; David Burke, U.S.M.C.; Robert and James Burk e, both of Freedom; great grandchildren: Whitney and Taylor Knowles, Matth ew Knowles, Nathaniel and Austin Millard, Jeffrey and Trevor Rasmussen; th ree sisters, Catherine Schaefer, California; Sister Therese Van Thull, Rac ine; Sister Virgine Van Thull, Manitowoc; a brother Robert (Carol) Van Thu ll, Kimberly; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Esler and Dorothy Van Thull, bo th of Milwaukee; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Gertie a nd Don Stoegbauer and their family: Reuben (Karen) Stoegbauer, Don Jr. (An ne) Stoegbauer, Cathy (Mike) Sczcspanski, Ken (Kim) Stoegbauer, Sue (Fre d) Clay. Mrs. Van Gompel was also preceded in death by her parents, her st epmother, Evelyn Van Thull; five brothers, Arnold, Joseph and Charles a nd two infants Van Thull; two sisters, Christine (Clarence) and Becky (Fra n), a son-in-law, Gerald Knowles.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2003, at St. Patr ick Church with Reverend Roy Geenen officiating. Interment will be in S t. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church from 9 a. m. Monday until the time of the mass.The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff at Oakrid ge Gardens Nursing Center, especially Barb, for their care and compassi on for Anna Marie.VERKUILEN FUNERAL HOME
