Mroczynski, Daniel J. "Dapper Dan"
Family and friends are remembering the life of Daniel J. Mroczynski of Pulaski, who passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. He was a loving husband to Phylis for 50 years, a devoted and caring father to Paul, Peter, Ann and John, and fun-loving Papa Dan to Megan, Kate, Luke, Jake, Grace, Chloe and Preston. He will be sadly missed.
"Dapper Dan" enjoyed the outdoors and sports, especially baseball. He was instrumental in developing Little League Baseball in Pulaski, and coached for many years. He loved to attend the events in which his children and grandchildren participated, and took great pride in their accomplishments.
A U.S. Army veteran, Dan served in the Korean War and earned several Medals of Honor. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion, Post #337, Pulaski. Dapper was an iron worker, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed carpentry and taught these skills to his sons. He liked to have fun, and teased and joked with everyone. Playing cards and coin collecting were two of his hobbies. In his later years, he enjoyed sitting on the front porch of the home he built, watching all that was happening outside. Dan was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Bona Council #4439 in Pulaski.
He leaves behind his wife, Phylis; his children and their families: Paul and Emily, Megan, Kate and Luke Mroczynski, Green Bay; Peter and Sheila, Jake and Grace Mroczynski, New London; Ann and Terry, and Preston Kasarsky, DePere; John and Peggy, and Chloe Mroczynski, Pulaski, and many other family members and friends.
Greeting him in heaven are his parents, Peter and Mary Mroczynski; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Agnes Wirth; brothers and sisters, and a grandson, Drew Kasarsky.
A celebration in honor of Dapper's life will be held at Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Veteran's Service will take place at 6 p.m. and the Closing Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. The visitation continues after 9:30 a.m. Monday at Assumption B.V.M. Church, Pulaski. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. presiding. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established.
