    Obituary:
    Elizabeth "Betsy" Timmers, age 99, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Brewster Village. Betsy was born on April 18, 1917 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to the late John and Hendretta (Wertz) Van Leur, whom were immigrants from Holland. In 1938, she was united in marriage to Norbert "Nub" Timmers in Chicago, IL. The couple enjoyed 47 years together until Nub's passing in 1985. Betsy worked in retail for 20 years at H.C. Prange in Appleton, retiring in 1978. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles in the daily Post Crescent, and she loved to cook.
    She is survived by two sons: Donald (Janice) Timmers, Appleton and James (Carole) Timmers, Fox Crossings; 8 grandchildren: Russell (Wendy) Timmers, Laura (Donnie Crandell) Holquist, Lynn (Friend Frank Pierri) Timmers, Sarah (James) Timmers-Eggers, Cynthia Timmers, Terri Stollar, Kelly Timmers, and Tracy Reynebeau; 7 great grandchildren: Justin, Samantha, Weston, Caitlin, Corynn, Mitchell, Elyse, Nicole, Katie, Eric, and Matt; and a sister-in-law, Maryann Van Leur, Appleton. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded by her parents John and Hendretta Van Leur, husband Nub Timmers, 3 brothers: Jake, John, and George Van Leur; as sister, Johanna Kemp; 2 brothers-in-law: Robert and Jerry (Rita) Timmers; and 3 sisters-in-law: Lucille Timmers, Irene (Art) Hietpas, and Mildred (Tony) Smith.
    A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Monday, February 20, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St. with Father Thomas Farrell officiating. Friends and relatives may visit directly at the church on Monday from 10 am until the time of service.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brewster Village, especially the staff in the Manor and to ThedaCare Hospice for the compassionate care given to Betsy.
