    Obituary:
DAWSON, Rosemary Gillen age 85. Beloved (single) Mother of; William (Anna), Roger, Mark (Rowena), Thomas (Lisa), Paula Caddo and Cathy Cowles (Craig). Dear sister to Paul Gillen. Cherished Grandmother to 16. Great- Grandmother to many. Born in Kaukauna Wisconsin, longtime Mason resident. Died at home, surrounded by family, on January 3. Mrs. Dawson was a well respected Mason elementary school teacher. A pioneer whose sometimes non-traditional teaching methods brought out the best in every student long before it was acceptable to buck the status quo. Many former students would routinely correspond with her to remind her of the difference she made in their life. One former student even honored her by naming her first daughter Rosemary. A highly intelligent woman, she was a voracious reader and Mensa member. A lifelong educator and faithful patron, she was instrumental in the development of the new Mason Library. Her diplomacy and sense of fairness were put to good use during multiple terms with the NEA negotiations committee throughout her tenure with Mason City Schools. She will be fondly remembered for her firm belief in education, her originality and spontaneity, her sense of humor and devotion to family. Mom was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, an above average bowler and Scrabble aficionado. Forever the teacher, Mom has donated her body to the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine. She was enriched by all who touched her life and will be missed by all whose lives she touched. If desired, donations can be made to Vitas Hospice, 11500 Northlake Dr. Suite 400 Cincinnati, OH 45249 or the Mason Library. Please send your recollections of Mom/Mrs. Dawson to ccowles@cinci.rr.com. A celebration of her life is being planned by the family. Time and place will be published in the Mason Pulse Journal.
