    Obituary:
Norbert C. Otte 408 E. 14th Street, Kaukauna Age 75, passed away Thursday, December 30, 1999 at the Appleton Medical Center. Norbert was born January 15, 1924 in Kaukauna, son of the late William Otte and Odelia (Jonen) Otte of Kaukauna. He attended and graduated from Holy Cross Grade School in 1937 and Kaukauna High School in 1941.
During World War II, he served his country as an infantryman in the United States Army. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to Kaukauna and began working at Thilmany Pulp & Paper.
On August 31, 1946, Norbert married the former Jean Reynolds in Kaukauna; she survives. He continued his work at Thilmany, was eventually promoted to Superintendent, and retired in 1984. He was a member of Thilmany's Quarter Century Club and their Management Club. Norbert was an avid woodworker, gardener, and fisherman. He was also known as a "sneaky" shutter-bug who always seemed to have a camera at the ready - one never seemed to be "safe". Over the years, he crafted countless woodworking projects which he shared with the staff and residents at St. Paul Home where his mother resides. He will be remembered by all as a kind man who always put the needs of others ahead of those of his own. He is survived by his wife, Jean Otte, Kaukauna; his mother, Odelia Otte, Kaukauna; three daughters: Linda (Tom) Kneepkens, Oshkosh; Mary Otte, Combined Locks; and Nancy (Joel) Marsh, Little Chute; two sons: George (Donna) Otte and Robert (Lynn) Otte, all of Kaukauna; 12 grandchildren: Andi and Tony Kneepkens, Bill (Lisa Schumacher) Heindel, Ellen Heindel, Rebecca (Stephen) Redmann, Jim (Katie) Marsh, Chris, Jeremy, Sarah, and Michele Otte, Miranda and Chelsea Otte; a great-granddaughter, Brittany Heindel; two brothers: Jerry (Lou Ann) Otte, Wabeno; and Don (Kathy) Otte, Menasha; three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Otte, Appleton; Vivian Patterson, Kaukauna and Rosemary Reynolds, Wausau. Norbert was preceded in death by his father in 1983, a brother, Arthur in 1986, and by brothers-in-law: Howard Patterson and Damon Reynolds. The funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2000 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the liturgy. Jean and her family would like to express their deepest appreciation to those special people who made such a difference. They include the entire staff at St. Paul Home for the many kindnesses shown to th! e family, as well as to the many physicians and nurses at the Appleton Medical Center - your care was outstanding, and finally and especially to the wonderful nurse who took care of Norbert until the end, Gary North. You are wonderful individuals and your concern, compassion, and love will never be forgotten. Thank you all so very much. FARGO FUNERAL HOME 400 W. Wisconsin Avenue Kaukauna 766-6200
