Obituary:
Richard Albert Loescher, age 80, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on June 28, 1927, in Appleton to the late Clarence Albert Loescher and Sarah Jane (McCullough) Loescher. He was 1945 graduate of St. Mary High School, Menasha, attended Marquette University and the United States Merchant Marine Academy and graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in 1951 with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering. On June 15 1948, he married Constance Margaret Murphy at St. Therese Church, Appleton sharing almost 60 years together. He and Connie raised a family of six children, which were the loves of his life.
For several years he had a residential and commercial architectural practice and was an Executive in Residence and an adjunct professor teaching Business Ethics and Team Building at the College of Business Administration in the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He worked for the Kimberly-Clark Corporation for 35 years holding various positions in engineering, new product development, marketing and Division General Management in several different company locations and Divisions, retiring as the Vice President of Purchasing.
Through the years he was a member and frequently the President of several Boards of Directors and Advisory Councils including Xavier High School, Fox Valley Technical College, Bay-Lakes Council- Boy Scouts of America, University of Wisconsin-Fox Foundation, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Chancellor's Advisory Council and the Business Advisory Board of The Dean of the College of Business Administration at UWO.
Richard enjoyed his family both as children and as adults, Boy Scouting as a child and as an adult, foreign and domestic travel, boating, stamp collecting, writing prose and poetry and using his hands to remodel houses and create art.
Survivors include his wife Connie; his daughter, Mary Ellen (Michael) Cottrell, Appleton; his sons: Gregory Loescher, Iola; William Loescher, Appleton; David (Jackie) Loescher, Hartland; Michael (Linda) Loescher, Greenfield; a brother, Thomas (Dorothy) Loescher M.D., Appleton/Tuscon, AZ; former daughter-in-law Carla Loescher-Schwark, Appleton; four grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Timothy; an infant brother George and a brother: Sir Robert Loescher.
Private services were held at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Memorial funds have been established at Xavier High School in memory of Timothy Loescher and the Bay-Lakes Council, Boy Scouts of America.
