    Obituary:
Maurice J. Theisen, age 90, Appleton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2008. He was born in New London on June 22, 1918, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Tillman) Theisen. He married Olive Alesch on February 26, 1949. Olive preceded him in death in 1998 after nearly 50 years together. Dad never knew his own father as his life was cut short by the influenza outbreak of 1918, but he dearly loved his mother and siblings and had many fond memories of them all.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Rita Mignon and Catherine Wensel.
He is survived by a brother, Bernard (Helen); three children: Joseph (Diane) Theisen, Philip (Virginia) Theisen, and Mary (Timothy) Danielsen; three grandchildren: Dylan Theisen, Lindsey Theisen, and Holly (Thomas) Gruber; a great-grandson due in October; many nieces and nephews, and special friends Anthony and Joan Haag.
Maury graduated from Appleton High School, class of 1936. He served his country in World War II in the Pacific as an airplane mechanic with the Air Force's 820th Bomb Squadron from 1944-1945. He received an honorable discharge in December of '45.
He was employed by Marathon/American Can from 1952 until his retirement in 1980, where he was a package draftsman, designing a variety of packages for the growing frozen food industry.
Maury especially loved bowling, golf, gardening and the many trips he took with Olive after they had retired. He loved his crossword puzzles and looked forward to lively games of Scrabble with his daughter and her family. He was also an active member of St. Mary's Church in Appleton for many years where he enjoyed singing in the choir, and then at St. Bernard's Parish in his later years. He passed his great love for music and learning on to his children, and had a quick wit.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Crestwood Senior Living for making him feel at home in his last months; and to Heartland Hospice for their expertise and kindness in making Dad comfortable in his last hours.
Funeral services will be held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St. Visitation will be held Friday, August 29, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. with a mass at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery in Appleton.
