Obituary:
Eric Smith, 32, Little Chute, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center. Eric was born November 17, 1975, at Kaukauna Community Hospital, to Judy and the late Larry Smith. The youngest of three, Eric was a fun loving boy and a delight to his parents. He attended St. John's Grade School and was later a standout football and track athlete at Little Chute High School, graduating in 1994. Eric's keen business sense and dynamic interpersonal skills led him to a successful career as a sales manager with several well known companies including Time-Warner Cable where he was employed at the time of his passing. On January 23, 2001, Eric married the love of his life, Melissa Prins. They were blessed with three beautiful children whom Eric adored and cherished. His happiest days were spent with his family having backyard campfires, seeing movies, and making big Sunday breakfasts. Eric was also an avid golfer and enjoyed watching football and UFC matches with his brothers and friends.
Eric is survived by his loving wife, Melissa (Prins) Smith; two daughters: Makayla, 8, and Madilyn, 2; a son, Dayne, 6; his mother, Judy Smith; father- and mother-in-law, Irvin and Barbara Prins; two brothers: Chris (Laura) and Todd Smith; two nieces: Kadie, 15, and Ashley, 9, Smith; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Larry Smith; and grandparents: Paul and Helen Smith and Serafin (Pete) and Margaret Babauta.
Eric will long be remembered and loved by his family and friends as a confident, industrious and fun loving man who lived life to its fullest.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008, at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street with Rev. John Kieffer officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
