Obituary:
Catherine Ann Schlimm (Smet), age 90, passed away peacefully in her home on January 31, 2013. She was born in Miladore, WI on October 20, 1922 to Peter Smet and Katherine de Beukelaer.
Catherine married Clement (Bud) Schlimm on April 5, 1945. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton since her marriage to Clement. Catherine and Clement loved farming the Schlimm family farm in Greenville.
Everyone will remember Catherine for her unconditional commitment to her family, her deep love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her tremendous example of work ethic with the family farm. Catherine enjoyed playing cards with her two card clubs, polka dancing, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens so she could grow food for the St. Joseph's Food Panty.
She was loved dearly and truly will be missed by her family and loved ones. Catherine is survived by her children: Barbara (Ed) Griesbach, Richard (Terry Bork) Schlimm, Kathryn (David) Howman, David (Mary) Schlimm, Michael Schlimm, John (Debbie) Schlimm, and Susan Schlimm Jansen: her grandchildren: Shane (Erica) Griesbach, Staci Griesbach, Matthew (Stephanie) Schlimm, Amanda Schlimm, Lori (Tony) Hobbs, Catherine (Chris) Fellner, Rachel (Mark) Skinkis, Jessica Schlimm, Theresa (Zach) DeWitt, Michael (Jessica Willey) Schlimm, Nathan Schlimm (Megan Lindsey), Shannon (Leeann White) Schlimm, Chasity (Adam Tierney) Schlimm, Caleb Schlimm, Travis Jansen and Hollie Jansen: her great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Bailey Griesbach, Isaiah Schlimm, Talen and Emberly Hobbs, Caitlyn and Caralee Fellner, Khloe Skinkis, Decaprien, Jayanni, Jazarah Schlimm, Evan, Gabriel and Catherine DeWitt, and Shelby Patterson: her brothers: Joseph (Ceil) Smet, Francis Smet, Clarence (Margaret) Smet, and sister: Margaret Smet Bowers, sister-in-law: Alice (Leighton)Larsen, nieces and nephews.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Clement in 1983; her parents, Peter and Katherine; her sisters and brothers-in-law: Marion Smet, Josephine (John) Wallace, Hortense (Jack) Van Handel; brother: Ed Smet; sister-in-law, Germaine Smet; brother-in-law: Norman Bowers; father and mother-in-law: Henry and Helen Schlimm; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Clarence and Mary Schlimm, Viola Schlimm, Sister M Melita.
The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at St. Therese Catholic Church 213 E. Wisconsin Avenue Appleton, with the Rev. William Hoffman officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. Catherine's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday at the funeral home from 4-7 PM with a prayer service to be held at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the church from 9 AM until the time of the Mass.
