Michael Cottrell, age 68, left this world on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Brewster Village, following a four-year battle with many health issues, operations, and rehabs. He was born on July 12, 1949 to his parents Floyd V. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Boehler) Cottrell. Michael was a 1967 graduate of Xavier High School. On November 1, 1969 he married the love of his life Mary Ellen Cottrell (Loescher). Michael proudly served his country as a Satellite Communications Operator in the United States Navy from 1969-1977. He was employed for over 36 years as a Technical Data Administrator and/or Corporate Computer Application Trainer at FVTC, Plexus Corp., Michels Corp, and Air Wisconsin.
Michael shared his knowledge of computers with his two sons, Sean and Erin. Led by Michael, while growing up, the Cottrell family enjoyed, countless hours of playing classic board games, reading fantasy fiction, going on trips to museums, and playing sports in their large back yard. Mike also enjoyed participating in bowling, golf, and baseball into his 50's. He was an avid reader of the Civil War, of Mysteries, and of True Crime novels. He loved gardening, concerts, antiquing, and WI trips with his wife, Mary.
Michael will be terribly missed by Mary Ellen Cottrell (Loescher), his wife of 48 years. As Michael requested, there will not be a formal visitation, service, or burial, but rather a private celebration of life at a later date, with just the immediate family. In honor of Mike's memory, he wishes that you donate to thecharity of your choice or to the Outagamie Humane Society, as he had always been an avid cat-lover.
Mike's family would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the wonderful care and dedicated service of both the Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice and Brewster Village throughout his long health journey. God bless you, each and every one!
Michael, I loved you on the very first day we met: April Fool's Day, 1969! Whoever could resist such a handsome Hunk with long sideburns, in a Nehru jacket, with a pewter Peace medal & a hangy-down pipe, while he's all hunched over, intensely writing the great American novel? Not I! For, I truly found "my knight in white satin!" And, we lived happily ever after…forever and a day! Love, your Lady

Michael married Loescher, Mary Ellen (daughter of Loescher, Richard Albert and Murphy, Constance Margaret) [Group Sheet]
