    Biography:
EDWARD W. JANSSEN. Edward W. Janssen, filling the office of city clerk at De Pere, was born in West De Pere, February 26, 1887. His father, William Janssen, was born in Galderland, Holland, October 8, 1844, and in his youthful days became a resident of Little Chute, Wisconsin. In the summer months he worked at farm labor and in the winter seasons was employed in the lumber camps to the time of his marriage, after which he engaged in farming on his own account for two years. He then entered the hotel business at Little Chute and a year and a half later removed to West De Pere, where he conducted a saloon and also acted as purchasing agent for the Chicago & Northwestern Railway Company. Subsequently he disposed of his saloon business and thereafter engaged in general merchandising until 1907. During that period he removed to Sampson, Wisconsin, where he carried on general merchandising and farming. In February. 1908, he retired from farm life, now making his home at Mosling, Oconto county. He married Wilhelmina Geenan, who was born in Freedom, Wisconsin, in March, 1854. They were the parents of twelve children. E. W. Janssen attended parochial schools until thirteen years of age and for three years pursued his studies at St. Norbert's College, graduating with the class of 1903. Later he engaged in clerking in his father's store and was thus identified with mercantile interests until 191 1, when he was elected to his present position as city clerk of De Pere. He is also secretary of the De Pere Water Commission and manifests the interest of a publicspirited citizen in all that pertains to the general welfare and upbuilding of the community. His political allegiance is given to the democratic party and he is one of the active workers in its ranks. On the 13th of October, 1910, Mr. Janssen was married to Miss Catherine Carroll, a native of Chilton, Wisconsin, and a daughter of James and Catherine (Finnegan) Carroll, the former a stockman. Unto Mr. and Mrs. Janssen has been born a son James William, now a year old. Mr. Janssen was reared in the Catholic faith and is a communicant of St. Boniface church. He also holds membership with the Catholic Order of Foresters. He has a wide acquaintance in his section of the county, where his entire life has been passed and his friends are many.

Edward married Carroll, Catherine "Kitty" 13 Oct 1910. Catherine (daughter of Carroll, James and Finnegan, Catherine) was born 28 Mar 1891, Chilton, Calumet, Wisconsin, USA; died 2 Mar 1978, Green Bay, Brown, Wisconsin, USA. [Group Sheet]

    Obituary:
June (Janssen) Aerts, 88, of Green Bay, was reunited with her "Darling" Harvey on Saturday January 18, 2014. She was born June 1, 1925 in Gresham, WI to the late Edward and "Kitty" (Carroll) Janssen.
June was a graduate of Shawano High School, class of 1943. It was at a Shawano High School vs. De Pere High School football game that she met the love of her life Harvey Aerts. After graduating from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1946, June married Harvey E. Aerts on July 1, 1947.
June worked as a private duty registered nurse from 1948 to 1966. and later as an industrial nurse at Milprint Inc. from 1966 to 1969. June finished her career with the City of Green Bay Health Department as a school nurse from 1969 to 1990.
After retirement, she did volunteer work with St. Mary's Mobile Meals, Unity Hospice, St. Vincent DePaul, the Brown County Health Department, and the Bellin Hospital Humor Cart. She was a very dedicated member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and served as a Eucharistic minister, Befriender, and Minister of Praise.
In her later years, June and Harvey attended Clown School and volunteered at church picnics and nursing homes as "Toodles" and "Scooter" the clowns. June loved planning and hosting parties for any occasion. "Dressing up" in the many costumes she created was always a hit. Sometimes she was a clown, Easter Bunny, Nun or even Santa. The Renew group as well as the barbershoppers "Mad Hatters" were all very special to her. June loved to travel and in her words the best trip was to Ireland in 1992 with Harvey. She also enjoyed the yearly trip to see the beloved Carley family in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida. Special times with the grandchildren were held at the cottage on Maiden Lake as June directed the "Choo-Choo" train down to the lake.
June is survived by her children and their spouses; Margie and David Sorenson, Green Bay; Jacque and James Coons, New Berlin; Jeff and Carol Aerts, Baraboo; Bill and Chris Aerts, St. Paul, MN; her grandchildren, Shane Harder, Adam and Corrine Harder, Erin and Greg Dorn, Lindsay and Andy Glawe, Benjamin Aerts, Grace and Henry Aerts; her great-grandchildren, Trenton, Noah, Adelyn, Jaxon; her sister, Carroll Janssen, Louisiana; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey in 1995, her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Friends may call at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Drive, on Wednesday January 22, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Paul Demuth officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
A memorial fund has been established in June's name to benefit Hospice Advantage or Northwoods Inc. in Portage, WI.
The family of June Aerts would like to extend a special word of thanks to the many friends who have shown their love and support over the years, especially Betty and Denny Aerts, Ricki Krautkramer, her "Guardian Angel" Dr. Tracy Sherman, the loving nurses and staffs at Gran Care Gardens and Hospice Advantage, especially, Amanda, Mary Grace and Mike.
