    Obituary:
    Florian F. Woelfel, age 89, died on Monday, February 23, 2004 at the Calumet Homestead in New Holstein. He was born on June 14, 1914 in the Town of Charlestown, son of the late Conrad and Agnes (Heimann) Woelfel. He married Dorothy A. Wettstein on October 10, 1939 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown; she preceded him in death on February 14, 1998. He worked with his brother Roland establishing the Chilton City Dairy, later working for the Carnation Company in Chilton until moving to the family homestead in 1949 where he farmed with his wife. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown where he served as a trustee for nearly 50 years, the Holy Name Society, and the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed dancing, playing sheepshead, and he was an avid dart ball player.
    He is survived by three children: Anthony (Jane) Woelfel of Sheboygan Falls; Esther (Douglas) Fisher of New Holstein; Claude (Susan) Woelfel of St. Cloud; eight grandchildren: Duane (Judy) Woelfel of Sheboygan Falls; Kim (Dean) Retlich of Kiel; Dale Lorenz of New Holstein; Shelly Lorenz of Nashville, TN; Jeff Lorenz of Milwaukee; Melissa Woelfel of Plymouth; Kristine (Mike) Blank of Jonsburg; Michael Woelfel of St. Cloud; six great-grandchildren: Nathan and Charlene Woelfel, Cody and Courtney Retlich, Taylor and Alicia Blank; a sister, Alma (Art) Steffen of Manitowoc; and a brother, Leonard Woelfel of Stockbridge. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, a sister Celestine Woelfel, a brother and sister-in-law Roland (Marcella) Woelfel, and a sister-in-law Marie Woelfel.
    Funeral Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2004 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown with the Rev. Loren Nys officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday for 4 p.m. until the time of service. Wieting Family Funeral Home is assisting the family.

    Woelfel, Leonard
    Leonard Woelfel, age 91, of Hilbert, died on Friday, February 27, 2009, at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. He was born January 26, 1918, in Charlestown, son of the late Conrad & Agnes (Heimann) Woelfel. Leonard married Marie Schmitt on August 27, 1940, and he continued to farm in the Charlestown area. In 1948, he and Marie took $50 and their 3 cows and moved to the Town of Stockbridge where they established their new home and farm. Marie preceded Leonard in death on June 25, 1979, and in 1980 he retired from farming. His passion and love of farming ran so deep, however, that he continued to help on the farm and offer advice whenever it was needed up through last summer. Leonard was a member of the Fox Valley Christian Church in Stockbridge, and belonged to the National Farmers Organization since 1964. Besides farming, Leonard enjoyed playing Sheepshead and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
    Survivors include his children: Pat Sinclair of Hudson, FL, Marian (Dave) Mehler of Malone, Carol (Marv) Heinrich of Chilton, Art (Ginger) Woelfel of Hilbert, Dave (Barb) Woelfel of Stockbridge, Dean (Margie) Woelfel of Hilbert; 18 grandchildren: Jeff (Melissa) Flanders, Lisa (Todd) Wollersheim, Tracy (Keith) Schmitz, Doug (Heather) Heinrich, Tim Woelfel, Erin (Brian) Rusch, Jim (Kay) Woelfel, Bob, Zach & Josh Woelfel, Angela (Tim) Saunter, Lindsay (Jon) Panko, Abby, Deanna, Sam, Jordan, Micah, & Michaela Woelfel; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister: Alma (Art) Steffens of Manitowoc. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Marie; a grandchild: Steve Woelfel; 2 brothers: Florian (Dorothy) Woelfel, Roland (Sally) Woelfel; and a sister: Celeste Woelfel.
    Funeral service will be at 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton with Pastor Angelo Puma officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Stockbridge. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009. The family would like to thank the staff of Century Ridge, the Chilton Care Center, and the Calumet Co. Hospice nurses for all of the loving care they provided for Leonard. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Randy Theiler for the special attention you provided to Leonard and our family.
