    Biography:
ALBERT F. KUMMROW, who is engaged in operating eighty acres of good farming land, is one of Greenville township's good, practical agriculturists and public-spirited citizens. He is a native of Outagamie county, having been born in Freedom township, May 4, 1864, a son of Herman and Johannah (Seehert) Kummrow. Herman Kummrow was born in Pomerania, Germany, March 18, 1830, and after serving his time in the German army came to the United States in 1855 and located in Milwaukee. He worked for some years for other people in that city, and was there married to Johannah Seehert, who was born in Pomerania, Germany, in August, 1831. They came to Outagamie county prior to the Civil War and located in Freedom township, where Mr. Kummrow purchased a farm, on which he was living at the time of his enlistment in the Union army. After his return from the war he resumed farming on this tract, but in the fall of 1892 he moved to Duluth, Minnesota, and resided for one year, then returning to Outagamie county and settling in Appleton, where he is now living retired on Pacific avenue. Mr. Kummrow was a prominent farmer and influential citizen of his township. He and his wife had seven children: Bertha, who married Rudolph Kruschke, of Duluth, Minnesota; Frank and Amelia, who are deceased; Albert F.; Berthold, residing on the old homestead in Freedom township; Paulina, who is deceased; and Mary, who married Mason Close, a resident of Duluth, Minnesota. Albert F. Kummrow attended school in Freedom township, and when thirteen years of age began working out as a farm hand, although he gave his wages to his father until he had attained his majority. He then worked for others until he was about twenty-seven years of age, when he bought the old homestead in partnership with his brother, and this connection continued for seven years, when Mr. Kummrow sold out to his brother and bought his present home of eighty acres in Greenville township, which he is operating in a general way, his land being very fertile. He is independent in politics and has never aspired to public office, being too much devoted to his farming interests. He and his family are connected with the Lutheran Church. On November 6, 1892, Mr. Kummrow was married to Miss Anna Remter, who was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, December 9, 1868, daughter of Herman and Wilhelmina (Knuth) Remter, the former born in Pomerania, Germany, December 12, 1838, and the latter at the same place, August 21, 1842. They came to the United States in 1867 and settled in Milwaukee, where Mr. Remter worked for four years for others, and then located in Buchanan township, Outagamie county, where he was engaged in farming until 1901 and in that year bought a residence in Kaukauna. He died in the latter place October 1, 1910, while his widow still survives him and lives there. They were the parents of eight children: Matilda, the wife of Fred Finke, of Buchanan township; Anna, who married Mr. Kummrow; Bertha, who is single and residing in Fond du Lac; Ida, the wife of Robert Schubring, of Kaukauna; Herman, of Freedom township; Lena, the wife of August Finke, of Fond du Lac; Emma, deceased; and Albert, residing on the old homestead near Kaukauna. Mr. and Mrs. Kummrow have had one child: Arthur Herman, born December 27, 1893.

Albert married Remter, Anna 6 Nov 1892. Anna (daughter of Remter, Herman and Knuth, Wilhelmina) was born 9 Dec 1868, Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA; died Yes, date unknown. [Group Sheet]

    Biography:
BERT KUMROW, a well-known resident of Freedom township, Outagamie county, who is engaged in general farming and dairying in section 5, was born September 1, 1866, on his present farm, a son of Herman Kumrow. Herman Kumrow was born in Prussia, Germany, and was engaged in work in his father's mill in that country until coming to the United States at the age of twenty-six years, when he located at once in Milwaukee. While there he was married to Johannah Zeckart, who was born in Germany and was left an orphan at eleven years of age, and they came to Outagamie county about 1860, buying a farm which forms a part, of the present homestead. The land at that time was covered with timber, but after building a log house, Mr. Kumrow started to clear his property, and as he put it under cultivation he added to his acreage from time to time and made improvements in the buildings. He enlisted in the Northern army during the Civil War, but at the beginning of his term of service was taken seriously ill and was sent back home, his sickness lasting for several years. He served his township as school director and treasurer for a number of years and was a well known and prominent citizen. Bert Kumrow was one of a family of seven children, and his education was secured in the district schools and the German school of his neighborhood. He worked on his father's farm until he was nineteen years of age when he went to Beloit, Wisconsin, where he spent two years working for farmers, and then spent a like period among the farmers in the vicinity of Rockford, Illinois. He then went to Ashland, Wisconsin, where for about five months he was employed in the Superior Saw Mill, and when about twenty-three years old he returned to the home farm and for about two years spent his time alternately on the home farm and among the neighboring agriculturists. When he had reached the age of twenty-five years he and his brother Albert bought the home farm and their father retired and with his wife lived with the boys for one year, then going to Duluth, Minnesota. After one and one-half years, however, owing to the severe winters there, they returned to Wisconsin and bought a home in Appleton where they have since resided, Mr. Kumrow celebrating his eighty-first birthday March 18, 1911, and his wife being eighty years old August 10, of that year. The same year that the father went to Duluth, Albert Kumrow was married and Bert lived with him and his wife for eight years, at the end of which time he bought the farm and has since been conducting it. He married Anne Feitense, daughter of John Feitense of Shawano county, and three children have been born to this union: Alma, born January 27, 1901; Meta, born May 13, 1902; and Raymond, born July 2, 1905. Mr. and Mrs. Kumrow are connected with the Moravian Church of Freedom. Mr. Kumrow is engaged in general farming, dairying and stock raising and has been very successful in his operations. His farm is one of the good ones of his locality and its general appearance denotes the presence of excellent management.

    Obituary:
David Richard Timm, A Marine Who Fought To The End, passed away on June 8, 2014. He had celebrated the 44th anniversary of his 39th birthday. "Never forget your birthday, you need to know it if you get sick," mine's Jan. 28th 1931.
I was the son of Irvin and Meta Timm (stepmother Clara). I have gone home to heaven to join my first wife, Frances Marie Griesbach. We were married on June 20th, 1956. She preceded me in death on Feb. 2nd, 1995. As Frances took her last breaths, I whispered "see you in heaven."
Some years later, while pursuing my hobby of collecting antiques, on Jan. 24th, I met an antique I really like, Virginia Becher. We were married on May 28, 2001. As hard as it is to leave Ginger behind, I know her children will watch over her for me.
I was born on a cold winter day in the midst of the Great Depression. I grew up in the Town of Freedom with my brother Bob (or did we grow up? We still enjoyed toy trains), exploring the shores of Duck Creek. I attended Maple Grove School and the Moravian Church. Then high school and next the Marine Corps. Frances and I raised our four children on the family farm in the Town of Osborn. After losing Frances, I found a second love, Ginger. I have been blessed with so many. Including my four children, Allen (Jean), Sally (special friend Art), Ken (Joanne), and Kathy. My 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Becky (Eric) Stephani and their daughters, Bella and Audri; Cheri (Ryan) Klussendorf and their sons, Kale, Owen and Max; Eric (Erica) Timm; Amanda, Mark and Kelly Timm. My one and only sibling (and fellow Packer fan) Robert (Carol) Timm and their children, Patty, Jeff, Kevin and Amy, and their families. Virginia's eight children: Sharon, Conrad, Jesse, Randall (deceased), Bonnie, Julie, Dorothy, Lance, and their families. And many very special in-laws from both marriages.
When you stopped in for a visit during my antique years, you likely saw me wearing a tattered flannel shirt and patched blue jeans. I'd be on my computer looking for tractors or trains, but more than happy to sit on the porch and talk about the good ol'days.
Being a gentle man who lived a quiet life, it is my wish not to have a funeral. If you find yourself reflecting about me, take a walk in the country. Feel the breeze, the sun, and the gentle rains. Soak in the smells and enjoy the sounds. On a hot humid day you really can hear the corn grow. Walk in the field, you'll hear it crackle. At night if you look to the sky, you'll see the lights of heaven shining through the stars. Enjoy what God has given us.
We have angels among us. The family, friends, and neighbors, who show up when it snows or the grass gets too long, or your just not up to getting the mail or paper. Somehow they notice. They do your pills and bills, so all that stays straight. They even take the garbage out. The dished get caught up and the house a little cleaner. You'll find them in the healthcare workers that when you are sick, a daughter who is at your side, just because you asked her to be. They do all this without 'stepping on a man's toes'. I want to thank all of my angels.
Every farmer puts his land to rest for the winter. On springs horizon it is brought back to life. God has put this farmer to rest, and with a spring in his step, Iris in hand, he walks the horizon to a new life.
On the way home from treatments, Dad would say "Let me known when we are on the final stretch to home-sweet-home." You're on that final stretch Dad.
David will be laid to rest with a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. John Parish Cemetery, Seymour, with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. A celebration of Dave's life and dinner will follow at Doxbee's. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Dave's memory.
