    Obituary:
John P. Griesbach John P. Griesbach, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at St. David's, in Round Rock, after a short illness with congestive heart failure. He was born September 1, 1926 to John A. and Anna Griesbach in Appleton, Wisconsin. John was 85 years young. He graduated from Appleton High School, attended University of Wisconsin briefly and was drafted for World War II. His base Air Corps training was in Biloxi, Ms. and he was sent from there to Osaka, Japan. After his service completion, John returned to the University of Wisconsin to pursue a degree in Petroleum Geology. He was a member of the Sig Ep fraternity during college. His chosen profession led him to Texas where he worked for Seaboard Oil Company in Ardmore Oklahoma, Corpus Christi, Texas, Oklahoma City and Amarillo, Texas. In 1960 John returned to Corpus Christi and later formed his own company, Delta American. He was an active geologist until he reluctantly retired in 1998 and moved to the "Lake House" at Horseshoe Bay. It was during his early Corpus stint that John met his fellow Yankee, Catholic, brunette "girl of his dreams", Joanne Rehmann who had just moved to Texas to work at Driscoll Children's Hospital. Fate took charge and Joanne ended up renting the same apartment that John had just moved out of and since it was a furnished unit, she ended up sleeping in John's former bed. Well - being such good Catholics - they happily married on Thanksgiving Day, 1955. John and Joanne celebrated over 56 years their union, family and faith. Besides his wife, John is survived by his 4 children, Debi Cartwright (Greg), Shari Kurczyn (George), Stephen Griesbach (Debbie), and Chris Griesbach (Melissa). His 8 grandchildren are: Kristin Griesbach, Chase Griesbach, Kyle Kurczyn, Matt Griesbach, Chad Griesbach, Kristi Kurczyn, Hunter Griesbach and Austin Cartwright. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Arthur, Norbert and Raymond, and 3 sisters, Delores LeClaire, Alice Wismans, and Ruth Bernhagen, One brother, Ralph survives in Sterling, Il. John belonged to the AAPG, SIPES, and Corpus Christi Geological Society. He was active in his church and community, always there when he could help or have some fun. Hunting and golf were his "guy" things but work and raising a family were his passion. Memorial Services will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Chapel, Horseshoe Bay on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 2pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Quail Point, 107 Twilight, Horseshoe Bay. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Paul Apostle Building fund, both c/o of St. Paul the Apostle Chapel, P.O. Box 8019, Horseshoe Bay, Texas 78657. Condolences may be offered at www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome.com Arrangements are under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Marble Falls.
