    Obituary:
    Clifford H. Mayer, age 92, of Stockbridge, died on Monday, September 14, 2009, at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. He was born November 23, 1916, in the Town of Chilton, son of the late Henry & Mary (Schomish) Mayer. Cliff married Alice Buechel on November 18, 1944, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. He and his wife were the owners and operators of Mayer's Lockers in Stockbridge for many years. He also worked as a custodian for the St. Mary church and school. Cliff was very involved in the Stockbridge community, where he served as the clerk of the Stockbridge School Board, a village trustee, the village assessor and was the first Chief of the Stockbridge Fire Department and served in that role for 30 years. Following his retirement, Cliff enjoyed woodworking, fishing, boating, camping, traveling, snowmobiling, and playing Sheepshead.
    Survivors include his wife: Alice; five children: Gerald (Linda) Mayer of Dallas, TX, Robert (Sandra) Mayer of Plover, James (Gail) Mayer of Stockbridge, Kathryn (Michael) Sirovina of San Antonio, TX, Michael (Debra) Mayer of Plover; ten grandchildren: Zachary (Lindsay) Mayer, Joshua (Joelle) Mayer, David Mayer and fiancee Laura, Anne Mayer, Eric (Jen) Mayer, Erin Mayer, Jason Sirovina, Jamie Sirovina, Ali Mayer, & Bryn Mayer; and five great grandchildren: Madeline, Addison, Walker, Lucas, and Jackson. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister: Geraldine .
    Funeral service will be at 12 noon on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge with the Rev. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009, when the service will be held.
    The family would like to thank Father Philip for his love, support and prayers, and the entire staff of the Chilton Care Center for all of the loving care you have shown to Clifford and his family.
