    CLINTONVILLE PIONEER DIES AT SON'S HOME Herman Schinke, 81, Succumbs After Illness of Ten Days
    Clintonville-Herman Schinke,81, pioneer resident of this community died Tuesday evening at the home of his son John in Deer Creek. He was ill about 10 days.
    The deceased was born in Germany, Oct. 1, 1849. He grew to man-hood there and was married in 1872. Six years later he came to America with his wife and children. The family located first in Clintonville and later moved on a farm in the town of Matteson. Here he lived until 15 years ago when he went to love with his son John. His wife died in 1920.
    Survivors are five sons and one daughter, Gustave, Clintonville; Herman, Deerbrook; William, Appleton; John, Deer Creek; Otto, Appleton; and Mrs. August Koehler, Deer Creek. He is also survived by one brother, August of Fairbault, Minn. and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Feitz of Shawano; Mrs. A. Wolf and Mrs. F. Stork of Fairbault, Minn.
    Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the residence, followed by those in Deer Creek Lutheran church, with interment in the parish cemetery.

    Leila V. Krueger, age 92 of Clintonville, passed away Sunday morning, June 25, 2017 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
    Leila was born on September 24, 1924 in the Town of Deer Creek, Outagamie County as the daughter of the late Herman and Olga (Wilfuer) Koehler. She was baptized on October 19, 1924 and confirmed on June 12, 1938. On September 21, 1946, Leila was united in marriage to Lawrence Krueger at St. John's Lutheran Church in the Town of Deer Creek. Lawrence preceded Leila in death on September 21, 2013 after 67 years of marriage. The couple farmed in the Town of Deer Creek until they moved to Clintonville. Leila worked at the Dime Store and the Shoe Factory until her retirement in 1989. She was a longtime member of Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville where she enjoyed her Miriam Circle meetings, Bible Studies, taught Sunday School, helped with the Salad Luncheons, and helped serve at many funerals. Leila's hobbies included dancing, delivering Meals on Wheels, socializing with family and friends, traveling to almost all 50 states, living in Arizona as a snowbird, and playing cards and bingo at the Senior Center. Leila will be missed for her excellent seamstress skills and putting others before herself. She was always thankful for the blessings of a healthy life.

    Great-Grandchildren: Justin and Seth Kirchner, Franklin.
    Sister: Bernice Meidam, Clintonville.

    Leila was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, sisters; Elda & Kenneth Conradt, Frieda & Walter Volz, and Eunice & Chester Heiman, and sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law; Art Meidam, Alvina & Orville Zahn, Cora & Milton Habeck, Lorraine & Leon Jacoby, Edna Krueger, Rolland Krueger, and Carl Krueger.
    Leila's funeral service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11 AM at the Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville with Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated for the Christus Lutheran Church Roof Fund.     Ruth H. Rohloff, 81, Clintonville, passed away, Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at ManorCare Health Service in Shawano. The former Ruth Hulda Botker was born July 4, 1927, in the Town of Deer Creek, Outagamie County, to the late Frederick and Emma (Koehler) Botker. She was united in marriage on Sept. 21, 1946, to Willard Rohloff at Zion Lutheran Church, Appleton. The couple dairy farmed in the Town of Grand Chute, Outagamie County, for some years and in the early 1970s they moved to Embarrass. Ruth was mainly a homemaker, but she also was a devoted caregiver for numerous people up until 1992 when her health no longer permitted. Willard passed away in January of 2008.
    She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Bear Creek. Ruth is a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Appleton, where she sang in the Choir, and Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, where she volunteered her time with the Ladies Aide. Her interests included gardening, crocheting, sewing and the outdoors. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
    Survivors include four children, Douglas (Frances), Neenah; Clifford (Judy), Tigerton; Roger (Amy), Kaukauna; and Annette (Michael) Adams, Shawano. There are ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. There are six sisters, Eileen Steingraber, New London; Inez Hanson, Readfield; Nancy (Al) Fye, Menasha; Doris (Jim) Murray, Appleton; Audrey (Roger) Sprotte, Woodruff; and Sandra (Orval) Scheulke, Readfield. There is one brother, Keith (Joan) Botker, Appleton; one brother-in-law, Eugene Becker, Shiocton; and sisters-in-law, Wilma Rohloff and Delores (Glenn) Flunker, both of Appleton. Further survived by many other relatives and friends.
    Ruth is preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Becker, Lucille (Carson) Dey and Pearl (Ronnel) Seiber; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Art (Irene) Peterson, Melvin (Vivian) Rohloff, Harold Hanson, Bernerd Williams, Clarence Steingraber and Mildred Rohloff. Also preceded by five infant siblings, Vincent, Mildred, Rueben, Fredrick and Roger Botker.
    Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Bear Creek. Rev. Steven Pockat will officiate and burial will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.     Pearl A. Sieber (Botker), 77, Hortonville, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Grand Horizons Assisted Living, Appleton. She was born February 9, 1931, in Appleton, WI, the daughter of the late Fredrick and Emma (Koehler) Botker. She was united in marriage to Ronnel Sieber on May 29, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton and he preceded her in death in 1999. The Lord blessed them with 51 years of marriage. Pearl did clerical work for several companies in Appleton and then went back to school to pursue her dream of being a teacher. She graduated from U.W. Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science degree. Pearl then taught at Neenah and Chilton Public Schools for over 30 years. Upon retirement, Pearl and Ronnel spent many years enjoying their home on Munger Lake in Lakewood, WI.

    Merl passed away Friday, August 11, 2006, at the Aberdeen Living Center. Merlin A. Schinke was born November 23, 1934, to Robert and Mae (Polcen) Schinke at Appleton, WI. At a young age, he moved to Sentinel Butte, N.D., where he was raised on a family ranch and attended rural schools. Merl enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps February 23, 1954, and served in the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge February 22, 1957. Merl attended DeVry Technical School in Chicago and graduated with a degree in electronics. Merl worked for the Otis Elevator Company for many years until he hurt his back and became disabled. Merl married Alice Y. Usselman July 30, 1971, and made Aberdeen their home. Merl continued working doing many different jobs from fixing small engines, sharpening chain saws and later started Midland Security Co. which he owned and operated for several years. Merl was an avid HAM radio operator, had a private pilot's license and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
    Surviving Merl are a daughter, Allison (Todd) Howell, Sioux Falls, SD; three stepdaughters: Carol (Rod) Eisenbeisz, Dorothy (Lloyd) Schock and Mary Malsom, all of Aberdeen; a stepson, Steve (Diane) Berreth, Aberdeen; a sister, Donna (Tom) Miller, Appleton, WI; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.     Barbara Ann De Witt, age 76, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Century Ridge in Chilton. She was born April 25, 1938 in Appleton, daughter of the late Ernest & Marjorie (Zuleger) Schinke. She graduated from Appleton High School, class of 1956.
    Barb married Eugene Jannsen on April 25, 1957. Following her marriage to Eugene, Barbara worked at the telephone company as a switch operator, the Chilton Metal Products, and as a teacher's aid in the Chilton School District. She and Eugene also owned and operated the Log Cabin Tavern in Chilton for 10 years. Barb sold cleaning supplies for Fuller Brush and Raleigh Companies and also worked at Austin's Grocery Store in Chilton where she met her best friend, Donna.
    She married Frank Westfahl on December 10, 1977 at Ebenezer UCC in Chilton; he preceded her in death on February 15, 1989. She later married Blaine DeWitt on September 8, 2001; he preceded her in death on March 21, 2009.
    Barb was a member of Ebenezer UCC where she had previously volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher. Barb was an animal lover, and appreciated all of the pets in her life. She enjoyed playing the organ, gardening, flowers, was a voracious reader, and collected angels and angel books.
    She certainly had numerous passions & hobbies in life, but her greatest love was her children. This was evidenced by her countless hours volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, volunteering as a Blue Bird and Campfire Girls Leader, and cherishing every moment babysitting her grandchildren. Nothing brought Barb more joy than to spend time with her family.

    Janice J. Penterman, 74, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.
    Jan was born on July 19, 1941 to Alvin and Florence (Dingeldein) Schinke in Appleton. She was a wonderful and kind person who was known as Saint Jan. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her family was the most important thing to her and the times they spent together will always be treasured. Jan was an active bowler and still got together with her bowling friends. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Christus Lutheran Church, the Greenville YMCA, and she had many special friendships with each group.
    Jan is survived by her daughter, Ginni Pelegrin, three grandchildren; Bailey, Matthew, and Elias Pelegrin, four siblings; Geri Paschke, Don (Judi) Schinke, Thomas (Sue) Schinke, and Leigh Ann (John) Heus, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Jan was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Dale (Cynthia) Schinke and a sister Gwen Schinke.

    Obituary:
    Thomas West, age 28, of Neenah, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He was born on March 15, 1985 in Appleton, the son of Michael and Dawn (Miller) West. Tom loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He looked forward to playing his guitar and listening to music. Tom liked the simple things in life, be it playing with the dogs, getting together for family gatherings, or hanging out with friends. He had a huge heart and was always thinking of others.
    Tom will be sadly missed by his parents, Michael and Dawn West; sisters: Nicole (special friend Joel) Remmel and Amanda (Nick) Dercks; nieces and nephews: Ethan DeWall, Alex and Alivia Remmel; Ethan and Spencer Dercks, William West; grandparents: Donna (Thomas) Miller and Jeanne (Henry "Bud") West; aunts and uncles: Anne (Roland) Kiesow, Donna Kohls, Joseph (Natalee) West, Linda Gleason, Sharon (Larry) Mueller, Daniel (Alice) Miller, Dale (Sue Rae) Miller, Darla (Col. William) Krahling and Danae (Joseph) Shipman. He is further survived by his special cousin, Amy (Josh) Hanson, other cousins, extended family and many friends. Tom was preceded in death by his aunt, Shirley West; uncle, Richard Kohls; and cousin, Sgt. Nickolas Mueller.
    The funeral service for Tom will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Jansen Fargo Funeral Home in Kimberly. Deacon Bruce Corey will be officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.     The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Raymond Georgen, Dr. Phillip Yazbak, and the ICU nurses at Theda Clark Medical Center, especially Jean and Erin. Tom was a giving person and will keep his generosity alive by fulfilling his wishes of organ donation. The UW Organ and Tissue Team will remain in our thoughts forever.
