    Virginia also known as Ginny, age 94 and 7 months died peacefully after a long battle of dementia at St Paul's Elder Services on August 1, 2015.
    She was born on December 19, 1920 in Appleton, WI to Peter and Margaret (Becker) DeYoung.
    She graduated from Appleton High School, 1938 and also the former Appleton Technical College, 1940. She had been employed at Wisconsin Bell Telephone.
    Ginny was introduced to her future husband at the Cinderella Ballroom, and she married Herman "Mickey" Van Grinsven on October 13, 1943 at Holy Name Catholic Church, while home on leave from the US Army. Mick preceded her in death in 1990 after 43 years of marriage. Caring for and loving her family and grandchildren were her utmost joy.
    Ginny enjoyed being outdoors, parks, trails and also searching for her cardinal each season. She instilled a love of reading, music, cards, Scrabble and dancing with her entire family.
    She is survived by 2 daughters: Margaret "Peggy" Cox and Lynn Van Grinsven. Grandchildren include Kirstin Cox (friend: Brent Haddow), Kostia and Maria Van Grinsven.
    Ginny was the youngest of 7 brothers who preceded her in death, George (Germaine), Edward (Sadie), Sylvester (Adelaide), Norbert (Gertrude), Eugene, Francis and James (Marge) DeYoung.
    Longtime friends Vernon and Lorraine Spence and loving niece, Betty Meyerhofer.
    She is survived by in-laws, Willard, Joseph, Joyce and Rita Van Grinsven plus numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.
    In-laws also preceding her were Marie, Henry (Lorraine) (Vera), Lawrence, Theodore, Martin, Fran and Darlene Van Grinsven and Anne Rickert.
    Special mention must also be given to the community at St Paul's where she made her home for 8 ½ years. The staff showered Virginia with love and affection usually reserved for a beloved family member. We are so appreciative.
    The funeral service for Ginny will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at ST. PAUL ELDER SERVICES CHAPEL, 316 E. 14th Street, Kaukauna. A time of visitation will be held in the chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Paul Elder Services or Alzheimer's Association of Greater Wisconsin. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

    Luke Anthony DeYoung, age 64, passed away unexpectedly while doing one of the things he loved most: visiting with a friend of 35 years while watching a baseball game.
    Luke was born to Norbert and Gertrude (Ganzyk) DeYoung on July 3, 1952. He graduated from Appleton East High School and completed his Bachelor of Science in Math Education at UW-Oshkosh in 1985. He had many different jobs over the years. One that he spoke very fondly of was his time as a bus driver for preschool children. Luke was very interested in health and fitness. You could often see him riding his bike, walking to and from the hospital, or working on his running training regimen. He was very interested in health foods and shared his knowledge of healthy living with others. More than anything, Luke was a consistent help to his neighbors. He donated blood regularly and brought his neighbors meals. He walked their dogs and visited those who were lonely, ill and in the hospital. He truly lived out the corporal works of mercy.
    Luke is survived by three brothers, John (Janet), Paul (Judy), and David (Carol), and two sisters, Barbara (Butch) Vander Putten and Tina (Fred) Poppe, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be dearly missed by his close friends, David Schultz and Tom Kasprovich, and his many friends at the place he called home.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Gertrude DeYoung and two sisters, Elizabeth (DeYoung) Meyerhofer and Kathrine De Young.
    The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 213 E. Wisconsin Ave., Appleton at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Ryan Starks and Fr. Tom Farrell officiating. Friends may call on Thursday at church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Full Military honors will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Joseph's Food Pantry or St. Vincent de Paul of Appleton where Luke volunteered.
