    Obituary:
    Otto Joas, 78, formerly of 525 E. Main St. Campbellsport, died Sunday at Grandcare Nursing Center. He was born Oct. 9, 1896, in the Town of Stockbridge, the son of Joseph and Anna Holzer Joas. He married Lucy Agnes Ott on Sept. 28, 1920 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Chilton, and she died Sept. 3, 1952. Mr. Joas farmed in the Town of Chilton until 1938 and in the town of Ashford until retirement in 1952. He was a member of St Matthew's Catholic Church, Campbellsport, Holy Name Society and Catholic Order of Foresters.
    Survivors include a son, Donald of Fond du Lac; two daughters, Mrs. Leo Janous of Campbellsport and Mrs. Andrew Steindorf of Brownsville, 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
    Other survivors are three brothers, Edward of Menasha, Arthur of Kiel and Leo of Milwaukee; and four sisters, Mrs. Henry Koehler of Kaukauna, Mrs. Herman Eichmeier of Chilton, Mrs. Frank Baesler of Sherwood and Mrs. Gilbert Selbecker of Mauson. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday at Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport, and at St. Matthew's Church, Campbellsport. The Rev. Victor Kemmer will officiate.

    Rosella "Sally" M. (Braatz) Krause age 90, New London, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. She was born in Woodville, WI on September 16, 1923, daughter of the late Henry and Alice (Joas) Koehler.
    Sally is survived by a son and 6 daughters: Sharon (Jim) Scott; Mary (Bob) Foley; Lynn (Rick) Rogers; Debbie (Al) Krueger, Paul Braatz; Kathy Braatz and Pam (Jerry) Jaeger; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
    Sally was preceded in death by her first husband Harry H. Braatz, her second husband Arthur T. Krause, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a granddaughter.
    Sally's family would like to thank Dr. Rasor, the staff at Appleton Medical Center and Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Appleton for all of their kindness and care shown to Sally.
    In accordance with Sally's wishes, she will be cremated and her burial will be at Turney Hill Cemetery, Town of Liberty, or as she put it, just throw my ashes in to the wind. A gathering for Sally's family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London from 1-4 p.m.

    Dorothy C. Van Asten, 88, Kaukauna, passed away on June 18, 2014. Dorothy was born on August 26, 1925 in Hilbert Wisconsin to Harold and Alice Koehler. She was married to Raymond L. Van Asten and he preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, St. Mary Site. She was the kind of person who always tried to help others, whether it was giving clothes to the poor or helping at church.
    She is survived by one son Mike, daughter Donna, grandchildren Ray, Brian, Brian, Joanne, Vaughn, Danny and Bobby as well as many other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond L. Van Asten, two sons, Marvin R. Van Asten and Merlin J. Van Asten.
    Funeral Services for Dorothy will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna on Friday June 20, 2014 at 11:00 am with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery

    Arthur "Art" Otto Koehler age 88, went to be with the lord on April 28, 2017 with loved ones by his side.
    Art was born July 19, 1928 to the late Henry and Alice (Joas) Koehler, and was raised on the family farm in St. John, Wisconsin. Art married Germaine "Mae" Heimann on July 7, 1955 and were together just shy of 60 loving years. He owned a dairy farm for 30 of those years in Seymour, Wisconsin and then moved to Kingman, Arizona in 1994 until his passing.
    Over the years Art enjoyed farming, playing cards, polka dances, but most of all spending time with his family. Art served his country proudly in the Army, stationed in Korea during the Korean War.
    He is survived by his children: Stan (Peggy) Koehler, Arizona; Steven (Paula) Koehler, Appleton; Glen (Robin) Koehler, Kaukauna; Jeffrey (Grace) Koehler, Oneida; Rita (Dan) Bucholtz, Dale; Grandchildren: Anthony, Amber, Kristy, Craig, Tracy, Kyle, Eric, Amy, Jennifer, Linda, Jason, Melissa, Alex, and Ashley; and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother Jerome (Karen) Koehler and a sister Martha Nett.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Germaine "Mae", son Timmy, and granddaughter Abbey; 2 brothers: Melvin and Ronald, 4 sisters: Anita, Sally, Dorothy and Monica.
    The funeral Service for Art will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sat. May 20, 2017 at St. Nicholas Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Art will be laid to rest in the St. Nicolas cemetery.
    Dad/Grandpa we will always remember you making us laugh with all your jokes. We will miss you dearly.

    Martha O. (Koehler) Nett formerly of Chilton - Martha O. (Koehler) Nett, age 85, died on January 20, 2018, at Willowdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein, WI. She was born on February 15, 1932, daughter of the late Henry and Alice (Joas) Koehler, and raised on the family farm in St. John and attended grade school in St. John.
    Bob and Martha married on September 11, 1951, and their 50th wedding anniversary was the same as date of the famous 9/11 tragedy. They settled on the Nett farm in Charlesburg. She was a house wife and farm wife. They loved to dance the polka, play Sheephead, eat out, fish, and travel. She also loved her flowers until her debilitation in 2009 and residence at Willowdale Nursing and Rehab until her death.
    Martha is survived by her children: Beverly (Nett) Marchant and son-in-law Harry Marchant of Sun Prairie and son Gary Nett of Crivitz. Her grandchildren are Roberta Marchant (fiance' Lane), Ryan Marchant and wife Megan of Manitowoc, Brad Marchant of Sun Prairie and Adam Nett (fiancee' Samantha) of New Holstein. Martha also has 2 great-grandchildren Neeve and Finn Marchant. She is further survived by her brother Jerome Koehler and wife Karen of Freedom, Florida, sister-in-law Donna Koehler of Texas and brother-in-law Bert Daun. She is further survived by many nieces; nephews; relatives; and friends.
    Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert A. Nett in 2013; sisters and brothers-in-law, Anita (Harvey) Bernard, Dorothy (Ray) Van Asten, Rosella "Sally" Krause (Harry Braatz and Art Krause) and Monica (Francis) Dorn. Deceased brothers and sisters-in-law include Art (Germaine) Koehler, Melvin Koehler and Ronald (Isabelle) Koehler. Also deceased are sisters-in-law Esther (Nett) Daun and Donna (Nett) Heimermann and her husband Lester Heimermann.
    A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 5, 2018, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 54 E. Main Street, Chilton, WI 53014. Rev. Larry Abler, OFM Cap, will officiate. Martha will be laid to rest next to her husband in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Charlesburg.

    Norbert was born in New Holstein July 29, 1920 to the late Herman and Margaret (Joas) Eichmeier. He married Appolonia "Appie" Sell on June 2, 1948 in Chilton. Norbert and his family farmed for 31 years before retiring in 1979, then enjoyed many happy years working in his garden.

    Luella Katheryn Snortum, Menasha, 78, passed away on Sunday evening, July 19, 2009. Luella was born on October 9, 1930, the youngest of four children born to Herman and Margaret (Joas) Eichmeier of Chilton, Wisconsin. Preceded in death by brothers Norbert and Elmer, and also a sister Loretta Mason. Luella married Arthur Snortum from Chilton in 1947.
    Together they raised five children in the Township of Menasha: Shirley (Ron) Schloemer, Waterford, WI, Gerald (Tina) Snortum, Shiocton, Beverly Hafemeister, Neenah, Sandra Kearn, Tacoma, WA, and James (Anita) Snortum, Shiocton.
    Following her husband's death in 1972, Lu worked at Theda Clark Hospital until her retirement in 1992. At the time of her death, Luella had eleven grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Luella was a beloved, caring mother, grandmother, and friend. Our memory of her will remain in our hearts forever.
    Funeral services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel at 1451 Green Valley Road, Neenah, on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Friends will be received in the chapel from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service. Luella will be taken to her final resting place next to her husband at Greenlawn.

    Norbert Gregor Propson, age 85, of Chilton passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012, after a short illness. He was born in Kloten on January 27, 1927 to Appolonia (Joas) and Joseph R. Propson. He was a 1944 graduate of Chilton High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 stationed in Germany. He also served as Register of Deeds for Calumet County for many years. Norb was a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Chilton for 35 years, retiring in 1990. On October 26, 1957 he married Rosemary Halbach at Sacred Heart Church in Sherwood. Together they raised seven beautiful children. In his younger years, Norb was an avid bowler. He also enjoyed listening to Polka music and following the Packers and Brewers. Norb enjoyed reading and watching his favorite TV shows, but most of all he enjoyed visits with his family. He was a life-long member of Good Shepherd Parish where he served on the parish council and as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a 66-year member of the Knights of Columbus. Norb is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rose, and their seven children; Ellen (Jack) Kane, Menifee, CA; Mary (Tom) Spaeth, Chilton; Keith (Tricia) Propson, Kaukauna; Lori (Joe) Krause, Chilton; Lisa (Matt) Schaefer, Madison; Lynn (Ken) Van Oss, Chilton; and Debra (Eric) Iverson, Watertown.     Stella H. Gerner, 86, of Chilton, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Willowdale Nursing Home in New Holstein. She was the former Stella H. Propson, born September 6, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Appolonia (Joas) Propson. Her husband, Sylvester, preceded her in death on February 23, 1996. First and foremost Stella was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She graduated from Chilton High School in 1946 being the youngest in her class. Prior to her marriage she worked as a bookkeeper for the John Deere Dealer in Chilton. She married Sylvester Gerner on May 10, 1950 at Saint Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Kloten. In the early 1950's Stella and Sylvester operated the Fisherman's Inn in Brothertown. She also worked at the Heritage Orchard, and at G & R Service in Stockbridge. For over 30 years she owned and operated G. Distributing Company, where a portion of the sales went to training seeing eye dogs for the blind through Master Eye Foundation of America. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho, where she served as treasurer for four years and later served on their finance committee. She is presently a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton.
    Stella enjoyed playing skat, Sheepshead, deer hunting, fishing, sturgeon spearing, and doing word searches. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed eating at Seven Angels restaurant and visiting with friends there. She always enjoyed listening to the Jerry Schneider radio program, watching Lawrence Welk, the Green Bay Packers, and Wheel of Fortune. Some of her most treasured sights were the sunsets over Lake Winnebago. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
    Survivors include her three children, Shirley Knapp of Douglasville, GA, Sandra (John) Kartheiser of Forsyth, MO, and Scott Gerner of Chilton; five grandchildren, Todd (Corina) Wagner of IL, Kelley (Jared) Likes of GA, Shane (Lindsey) Gerner of Chilton, Lance Gerner of Chilton, John W.     Richard P. Joas, age 78, of the Town of Poygan, died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.
    He was born September 21, 1928 in Chilton, Wisconsin to the late Edward and Gertrude (Durbin) Joas. Richard was raised on a farm outside of Quinney, and graduated from Chilton High School. He married Gladys Bohl on March 9, 1948 and she preceded him in death on August 25, 1968. Richard worked as a mill worker for various companies and also farmed until retirement. He was a long time volunteer on the Winneconne-Poygan Fire Department, and was a member of the Omro Antique Tractor Club. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and visiting with family and friends.
    Richard is survived by his four children, Blaire Joas, Dallas (Laura) Joas, Barry (Jeanine) Joas, and Holly (Dan) Thiele; grandchildren, Brahm (Kathy) Joas; Blaire II (Lori) Joas, Brian Joas, Eric Joas, Alex Joas, Nikki Joas, Tammy (Ben) Rauls, Shannon Thiele (fiance, Kevin Kratzke), and Carey Thiele; one great-grandson, Zachary; one brother, Douglas Joas; a half-sister, Bonnie Young; a special friend, Ella; and his little companion, "Puddles".
    Along with his parents and wife, Richard was also preceded in death by one son, Joseph Joas; and one brother, Lionel Joas.
    Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, with Pastor Mark Klaisner officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in the Town of Poygan. A Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Richard's name to the Winneconne-Poygan Fire Department or the Omro Antique Tractor Club.

    Marvin R. Van Asten, Kaukauna, age 67, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. He was born August 4, 1944 in the Town of Freedom, son of Raymond and Dorothy (Koehler) Van Asten. Marvin was an U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and was presently living at the cabin on Lake Tomahawk. Marvin was a very easy going man who had a positive effect on all who knew him.
    He is survived by two sons: Brian Van Asten, Kaukauna and Raymond (Vicki) Van Asten, Appleton; three grandchildren: Natalie, Katelyn, and Elizabeth; his mother, Dorothy Van Asten, Little Chute; a brother, Michael Van Asten, and a sister, Donna (Heilman) Eberly. He is further survived by four nephews: Brian, Vaughn, Dan, and Bob; a niece, Joanne; and other relative and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Merlin, and a brother-in-law, Jim Heilman.
    A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a. m on Monday, June 18, 2012 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. 7th St., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating.     Victoria J. Thoma, 59, of Neenah, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. She was born on October 2, 1954, in Neenah, the daughter of Douglas and Margaret (Fellner) Joas. She was an extremely generous person who donated much of her time to the welfare of her friends, family and community. She was also active in many local theatre groups, where her amazing singing voice was renowned throughout the Fox Valley. Over the years she helped recruit many aspiring actors and actresses, to include her oldest granddaughter, Anna Mueller. As a Kimberley Clark retiree, she also took a tremendous amount of pride in her work as a realtor for Homestead Realty. Among the organizations previously mentioned, she will be missed and remembered by her family, whom she has helped and guided as a mother always should. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Neenah.
    Vicki is survived by her husband: Scott; father: Doug; Children: May Pittz, Dennis (fiancé Kasandra Schurer) Mueller, Kelly Pennings, Sean (wife Randi) Pennings, Jamae Pennings, Jennifer (Jerold) Meidam, and Michael (Jessica Calkins) Thoma; six grandchildren: Anna, Jacob, Kyle, Dalton, Rylan, Dilan, and one baby girl on the way; a brother: David (Becky) Joas; a sister-in-law: Alice Joas; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and all those who attended girls night for Karaoke!
    Vicki was preceded in death by her mother, and a brother: Douglas Joas.
    Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah, with Rev. Catherine A.K. Mode officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Victoria's name.

    Douglas Michael Joas, 52, Winchester, died late Thursday night, July 17, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born Sept. 22, 1955, in Neenah, to Douglas E. and Margaret (Fellner) Joas. Doug was a 1973 graduate of Neenah High School where he participated in wrestling. On Aug. 21, 1976, he married Alice Eckstein at Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester. They were blessed with five children. Doug worked for almost 30 years at Gilbert Paper Co. in Menasha, until the plant closed. Most recently he had worked for the Town of Clayton. Doug was a dedicated member of the Clayton-Winchester Fire Department since 1981, currently serving as a Fire Inspector. He has been a Supervisor for the Town of Winchester since 2005. Doug was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester, and was a past Sunday school teacher, member of the church council and served on the Buildings and Grounds Committee, but his true joy with church work was his involvement with Ruth's Pantry. He was committed to his family, friends, church and community, always willing to lend a helping hand. Doug enjoyed his regular stops to Kwik Trip for coffee and visiting. "You know what I mean."
    Doug is survived by his wife of 31 years, Alice; and their children, Benjamin, Katie, Ryan, Kari and Rachel Joas. He is also survived by his father, Douglas E. Joas; one brother, David (Becky) Joas; one sister, Vicki (Scott) Thoma; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Abe and Theda Eckstein; very special sister-in-law, Fay Eckstein; brothers-in-law, Ted Eckstein, Tom (Sandy) Eckstein, Clint (Robin) Eckstein, Dan (Jena) Eckstein; and many nieces and nephews.
    Doug's mother, Margaret, preceded him in death.
    A Funeral Service for Doug will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester in Larsen, Wis., with Pastor Chuck Fluegel officiating. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Winchester. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church and will continue on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.

    David L. Joas, 58, Larsen, died Monday, May 9, 2016 at his home. He was born on February 26, 1958, to the late Douglas and Margaret (Fellner) Joas in Neenah. David was united in marriage to Carlene VanBramer in Brainard, NY. He enjoyed fishing, turkey and deer hunting as well as snowmobiling. David was an avid Packer fan. He loved spending time with his family, watching television with his beloved Carlene and was known for his sarcastic humor. He was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army for 13 years, a sharp shooter as well as a computer expert. David taught computer programming classes at a community college for 5 years.
    David is survived by his wife Carlene of 33 years, children Toni (Ubaldo Quilantan) Turner, Jimmylee (Kim Price) Joas and Steven Turner, 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 godsons Sean Pennings and Dennis Mueller.
    He was preceded in death by his siblings Douglas Joas and Victoria Thoma.
    In accordance with David's wishes no funeral services will be held.
    The family would like to thank the Winnebago County Sheriff's team, the first responders as well as Cheryl Brehmer, Deputy Coroner for all their help.
