    Miller, LaVerne Marion - "Lolly" "Lol" Kaukauna
    After a valiant fight against COPD and heart issues, Mother left her earthly home and joined Dad, Wendy, Bobby, and Lexi in Heaven on Monday evening, November 24, 2014. The eldest daughter of Charles and Mary (Endter Strobl, LaVerne "Lolly" was born in Appleton on May 1, 1929. She met and married the love of her life, William Donald Miller, on April 17, 1947. Their union was blessed with five children: Susan, Donald, Robert, Wendy, and Karen. Dad preceded her to Heaven on November 28, 2000. For a short period of time, Lolly worked in a mill in the flats of Appleton. She and Bill first lived in a Quonset house to the rear of her family's property on old Candee St. (now College Ave.), then moved to Kaukauna where they resided the rest of their lives. Lol worked as a waitress at North Shore Golf Course and at Butte des Morts Country Club for several years, but was best known as a seamstress and upholsterer. She spent many years working from home as she re-upholstered numerous pieces of furniture for homes and offices throughout the Valley.
    She is survived by her children: Susan (Gary) Wisneski of Menasha, Donald (Debra) of Appleton, and Karen (Jeff) Knaus of Kaukauna, along with Mike and Judy Phillips. Her grandchildren are: Sheila (Todd) Kronberg, LuAnn King, Jill Price, Pam Verkuilen, Chad (Julie) Miller, Stephanie (Mike) Walecka, Tim Miller, Dr. Michelle (Jason) Russell, Cate (Jennifer) Phillips, Andy (Aimee) Phillips, Scott Rosin, Samantha (Brett) Van Thiel, Kody Knaus, as well as Aleisha (Brian) Petri and Chad (Jackie) Wisneski. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren: Mitch & Kyra Kronberg, Landon & Dawson King, Megan Chase, Emily & Kaitlin Verkuilen, Drew & Hailey Miller, Emma Luehring, Oscar, Brandon, Lucas, & Xavier Phillips, and Miller & Bryce Phillips, as well as Myah, Melissa, Michelle, and Taylor. Especially missing her are her favorite "grand dogs" Boomer, Kiki, Bella, and Cali. Lol is further survived by her brothers-in-law: Ron & Vernie Miller and Mike & Colleen Miller; her sisters-in-law: Caroline Schroeder, Jackie Strobl, and MaryJo Miller; her brother-in-law, Dave Kobs, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, card-playing buddies, and her family at the Canal Place in Kaukauna where she lived. Besides Bill, too many of her loved ones preceded her to Heaven, including her son, Robert Alan Miller and her daughter, Wendy Margaret Phillips, her granddaughter Lexi Price, her parents, her in-laws: Margaret & Mike Miller, all her brothers and sisters, and her two best friends: her sisters-in-law Elsie Kobs and Lil Gerrits.
    Memorial services for LaVerne will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 28, 2014 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH @ ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH, 2401 Main Avenue with Fr. Jerry Pastors celebrating. Inurnment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 11:30 AM until the time of services.     Clarence (Bud) A. Strobel, age 76, of Black Creek, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 4, 2007, at his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 31, 1931, in Fond du Lac. He is the son of the late Irma and Frank Strobel. In 1953, Bud married the love of his life - Donna DeHut. They married in Oconto and moved to Appleton. A year later, they moved to Neenah where they lived for 40 years. In Neenah they raised six children. Bud was employed by Gilbert Paper Company in Neenah until his retirement fourteen years ago when he moved to Black Creek. Bud's top priorities were family, God, fishing and hunting. He built a cabin near Eagle River and it became his second home. He not only taught all of his children how to fish but he also taught all 15 grandchildren how to fish. He caught some prize muskies and had a story to tell about each fish. Bud was a great storyteller, joke-teller, singer, artist, handyman and lover of life. He cared about all people and was accepting of everyone. He lived his life through his words "forgiveness is the only revenge".
    He is preceded in death by his one brother, Bob Strobel.
    He will be greatly missed by everyone. Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Donna Strobel; sons/daughters: Becky (Jef) Smith, Forest Junction; Ruth (Gary) Pommerening, Neenah; Tom Strobel, Neenah; Toni (Bill) Goodall, Black Creek; Jim (Darci) Strobel, Neenah; Frank (Sarah) Strobel, Black Creek; 15 grandchildren: Cinnamon, Joe, Jay, Elizabeth, Andy, Adam, Austin, Joey, Jimmy, Jacob, Jenna, Angie, Abby, Ben and Megan. Great-grandchildren: Rose and Dharma.
    Memorial Mass will be Thursday, September 6, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek with Father Theodore Hendricks officiating. A gathering visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until time of services and a reception following Bud's Mass.

    Rebecca "Becki" A. Smith, age 60, of N8817 Church Street in Forest Junction, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at her residence.
    Becki was born on September 15, 1954 in Appleton, daughter of Donna (Dehut) Strobel and the late Clarence "Bud" Strobel. On September 3, 1976, she married Jeffrey Smith at High Cliff State Park. Becki graduated from Dayton Beauty College in Dayton, OH, but found her true calling as a photographer and videographer, working side by side with her husband Jeff. She was a painter, lover of music, loved the outdoors and photography, and always had time for her granddaughters.
    Becki is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jeff of Forest Junction; three children: Cinnamon (Michael) Majewski of Middleton, Joseph Smith and Jeremiah (Lisa) Smith, all of Forest Junction; two granddaughters: Rose Majewski of Middleton and Dharma Smith of Forest Junction; 2 sisters Ruth (Gary) Pomrenning of Neenah, Toni (Bill) Goodall of Black Creek, 3 brothers: Tom Strobel of Neenah, Jim (Darci) Strobel of Neenah and Frank (Sarah) Strobel of Black Creek; father-in-law: George Smith ; two sisters-in-law: Donna (Randy) LaBelle of Little Chute and Lisa (Tim) Dawson of Daytona Beach, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother-in-law: Patricia Smith, one sister-in-law: Karen Smith, and her cat "Swimmer."
    An open house and celebration of her life has taken place on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at her residence.

    Steven J. Bednarowski, age 52, passed away unexpectedly and prematurely on Saturday, April 25, 2015. He was born on October 24, 1962 to James Bednarowski and Shirley Dietzen, and he resided in Appleton. Steve enjoyed watching birds, gardening, fishing, camping, and photography. He was known in the family as being a great cook and could make almost anything. Steve had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making everyone around him laugh. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the Caribbean and greatly treasured the time he was able to spend there. He was an avid coin and money collector. He was also very proud of his Chevy truck and was very handy with anything you could think of.
    Steve loved his family dearly, and they were the most important thing to him in the world. He shared many memories with them, especially with fireworks on the 4th of July. Steve was always a generous man who enjoyed giving. He was greatly admired by his children and loved dearly.
    He is survived by his mother Shirley Dietzen; father James (Sue) Bednarowski; siblings: Kathy Tyrrell, Tony (Gina) Bednarowski, Joe (Kim) Bednarowski, JJ (Michelle) Bednarowski, and Erin (Brian) Gerrits. Steve is further survived by his children: Amanda, Josh, Nick, and Caitlin Bednarowski. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Herman and Lucille Strobl and John and Cora Bednarowski; and sister Kelly Dietzen.
    The celebration of Steve's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
