    Obituary:
    Ruth Reffke-Eggert, 94, of Appleton, was taken to Heaven in the arms of Jesus, with her family by her side, on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Bridges of Appleton. Ruth was born on June 6, 1920 in Appleton to the late William and Josephine (Schey) Hoppe. Ruth was united in marriage to Edward Reffke and Francis Eggert; both have preceded her in death.
    Ruth worked at Zwickers sewing thumbs on mittens. She then went to work for VanHandle's as the first lady school bus driver in Appleton. Ruth drove bus for 20 years before retiring. She loved to paint, fish, travel, play cards especially Sheepshead, and other games. Ruth also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, and spending time at her place up north. Her true passion was her family; she truly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ruth had a great sense of humor, and she enjoyed playing the lap steel, accordion, and guitar. She will be truly missed by her family and all who knew her.
    Ruth is survived by her children: Carolyn (Paul) Reque, Audrey Hendrickson, Steve (Jean) Reffke, and Larry (LouAnn) Reffke; grandchildren: Roxanne (Russell) Butzer, Ron Pluger, Dawn (Pete) Praire, Sheila Adelman-Reffke, Scott (Tara) Reffke, and Kurt (April) Reffke, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
    Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands Edward Reffke and Francis Eggert, by her two sons Ronald and David Reffke, her brother Earl Hoppe, and her dear pets ChiChi and Pretty Bird.

    A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015, at 11:30 AM at Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton, with Pastor James Cowger officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday, February 16, 2015, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the funeral home.
    The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Bridges of Appleton for their care and support during her stay.

    Memorial for Earl Hoppe Born in Appleton, WI on Aug. 22, 1923 Departed on Oct. 27, 2010 and resided in Appleton, WI. Earl Hoppe, age 87, went to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Appleton Healthcare Center. A veteran of World War II, Earl was born in Appleton on August 22, 1923 to the late William and Josephine (Schey) Hoppe. He will be greatly missed by his wife of sixty-seven years: Jennie Marie (nee Jury) Hoppe of Appleton; three children: Sally (David) Flegner of Watertown, Jody (Robb) Campbell of Rincon, Georgia, and Jack (Ginger) Hoppe of Seymour. There are also nine grandchildren: Jason (Emmy) Flegner, Catherine (Josh) Fye, Joseph (Susan) Flegner, Robert (Marisol) Campbell, Andrew Campbell, John Campbell, Jacquelyn Campbell, Jessica Hoppe, and Nicki Hoppe; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister: Ruth Eggert of Appleton. Earl began his working career at Kurz Electric in Appleton, and later was an employee of the Kimberly Clark paper mill in Kimberly. He retired March 31, 1995, after more than forty-eight years of service at the mill. Earl was a skilled refrigeration mechanic, taught air conditioning at FVTC, and was a member of the United Methodist Church. More than anything, Earl loved spending time with his wife and family in the outdoors fishing, hunting, boating, and sharing time at the family cottages. He truly enjoyed nature, and loved to share the simple joys of life with his family and friends. The funeral service for Earl will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the funeral home chapel, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton with Rev. Mark Klaisner of St. James United Methodist Church officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The family is grateful to the kind and caring staff at the Appleton Healthcare Center, as well as to all of the caregivers at Theda Care At Home Hospice. Wichmann Funeral Home 537 N.
