Obituary:
Leona M. Schmitting, age 91, of the Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, formerly of Hilbert, died on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. She was born on Nov. 29, 1915, in the Town of Rantoul, daughter of the late Henry & Anna (Leider) Krueger. On Sept. 27, 1931, she married William Schmitting in Rantoul. Leona farmed with her husband until 1974 when they moved to Hilbert. She enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Hilbert and the Ladies Aid.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Doris and Donald Riemer, Chilton; a son and daughter-in-law: Eugene & Carol Schmitting, Hilbert; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three step great-grandsons, a sister Erna Diener, Hilbert; a sister-in-law, LaVerna Krueger and many friends.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, William, on February 27, 1989, an infant son Robert, a son and daughter-in-law Earl and Katie Schmitting, two grandsons, a sister and three brothers.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 24th, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Hilbert. The Rev. Dennis Sundell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion on Saturday, December 23rd, from 5 to 8 p.m. and then at the church on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.

Obituary:
Steven D. Schmitting, age 42, of Hilbert, was carried by angels to his heavenly home on Friday, October 10, 2014 at his home in Hilbert. He was born March 23, 1972 in Kaukauna, son of Eugene & Carol (Hillmann) Schmitting.
Steve married Cherlyn Broehm on November 29, 1992 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton and volunteered with the Village of Hilbert Fire Department for 10 years.
Steve lived his life as an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed bow hunting and fishing with his kids. He loved time spent with his family. He looked forward to dancing with his beloved wife, going for walks, spending time at the Broehm Family Cottage, and rooting for the Green Bay Packers with those he loved by his side.
He is survived by his wife: Cherlyn; children: Amanda, Dakota, Faith, and Blaine Schmitting; his parents: Gene & Carol Schmitting; his mother-in-law: Ruth Broehm; a brother: Dennis Schmitting; a sister-in-law: Connie Schmitting; a very special godchild and niece: Emily (Dave) Groth; nieces and nephew: Kristopher and special friend Ashley, Erin and special friend Hunter, Elyse, Emma & Ellie. He is further survived by numerous friends, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his loving father-in-law: Gene Broehm; grandparents: Wilmer & Louise Hillmann and William & Leona Schmitting.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton with Rev. John Christensen officiating. Burial will be in Charlestown Union Cemetery. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home in Chilton from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 and on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at church from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
