Obituary:
Vander Hyden, Dorothy P. "Dottie", of Appleton, age 85 years, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 25, 2007, at Franciscan Care Center. She was born June 14, 1941, in Kaukauna, the daughter of the late George and Rose (Ebben) Scheibe. On June 14, 1941, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, she married William J. Vander Hyden. Dottie was a long time, charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She worked for Zwicker Knitting Mill for 38 years, retiring in 1984. Dorothy loved her flower beds and her dear pets, Muffet, Andre and Heidi. She enjoyed mowing the lawn and shoveling the snow. Dottie truly enjoyed life with her many nieces, nephews and godchildren and was especially blessed by the kindness of Gary Van Wychen and Greg Brittnacher and their families.
Dottie is survived by her sisters: Edna (Jerome) Van Wychen, Kaukauna; Marion Brittnacher, Wrightstown and Margaret Burke, Savage, MN; sister-in-law, Nancy Shimek, Two Rivers. She is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews and nine godchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Vander Hyden on January 11, 1992, her sisters: Virginia (Harvey) Haertl and Magdalene (Gordon) Kieffer and brothers-in-law, Norbert Brittnacher and Jay Burke.
The funeral liturgy for Dorothy will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with Fr. Quinn Mann officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of mass. Memorials are appreciated to the Harbor House.
The family would like to thank the staff at Franciscan Care Center, especially Suzi for their excellent care of Dottie.
