    Obituary:
    Carol D. Berg, age 43, of Freedom, was called home to our heavenly Father on Sunday, July 10, 2016, after a courageous journey with cancer. She was born on February 24, 1973, daughter of Al and Bev (Jaeger) Vandenberg.
    Carol graduated from Xavier High School, Class of 1991. She then pursued a degree in Physical Therapy at UW La Crosse. Carol worked at the C.P. Center in Green Bay for several years before working at the St. Paul Home in Kaukauna.
    On August 24, 1996, Carol married the love of her life, Todd Berg, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Appleton. Together they have raised their three kids, Noah, 16, Callie, 12, and Owen, 8, in Freedom. Carol was a devoted mother and a loving wife. Her life revolved around her children, attending all of their activities and guiding them as a faithful, generous mother.
    Carol was a very active member at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom and at St. Nicholas School. She recently received the Compassionate Heart award from St. Nicholas. She enjoyed doing yoga and spending time at the cottage on Long Lake with her family.
    Carol will be remembered for her infectious smile, positive attitude, and her tremendous faith in God. She was a true blessing to all who knew her.
    Carol is survived by her loving husband of almost 20 years, Todd Berg; her children: Noah, Callie and Owen Berg; her parents, Al and Bev Vandenberg; siblings: Christine (Jeffrey Abitz) Vandenberg, Kay (James) Huggins, Jeffrey Vandenberg and Douglas Vandenberg; mother-in-law, Kathy Berg; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jeannie (R.G.) Stathas, Julie Coenen, John (Diane) Berg, Lee (Cindy) Berg, Larry Berg, Jeff Berg, Leslie Berg, Layna (Mike) Boland; and many other family members and special friends.
    Carol was preceded in death by her father-in-law, John Berg; brothers-in-law: James Berg and Cliff Coenen.
    Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, N3972 Columbia Ave., Freedom, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Concluding the night will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday directly at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Carol's name. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
