Obituary:
Darrell Wellman, 76, Neenah, Wis., died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton. He was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Ford River, Mich., son of Jesse and Louise (Lovie) Wellman. Darrell married MaryAnn Isaacs, Dec. 11, 1954, in South Bend, Ind. He was a 1977 graduate of Madonna College, Livonia, Mich. He was employed as a state trooper in Michigan, where he received a Meritorius Service Award, for many years prior to his retirement. He then became security director for Budget Rent a Car. He always loved the upper peninsula of Michigan where he hunted and fished. He loved flowers and worked in the garden. He was a master gardener.
Darrell is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; his son, Gregory J. Wellman, Seattle, Wash.; brothers and a sister, Delor, Ormal, Denny, Harold and Barbara.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters and brothers, Cleo, Lillian, Jesse, Leland, Wilmer, Dwayne, Wesley and Vernon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at the Kessler Funeral Home, with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. Military rites will be performed by members of the William Verhagen American Legion Post #60, Kimberly, following the services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Theda Care at Home Hospice at Cherry Meadows.
