    Sgt. James W. McDonald, 26, of the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at Fort Hood, Texas. James graduated from Neenah High School in 2000 where he was involved in football, choir, drama club, youthgo and the Wisconsin National Guard Cadet program. James entered the U.S. Army in 2002 and was deployed to Iraq for two tours of duty. He received several medals including the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
    Survivors include his parents, Doug and Joan McDonald; two sisters, Jennifer and Kimberly; two nieces, Justyce and Jade; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Elaine McDonald, Neenah; aunts and uncles, Duane and Carrie McDonald, Neenah; Dorothy and Greg Scovronski, Neenah; Donna and Tom Mills, Texas; Mike and Sue Keyzers, Seymour; Janet and Dennis Ponschock, Brillion; Raymond Keyzers, Appleton; Joe and Sharon Keyzers, Plover; Jim and Lynn Keyzers, Wausaukee; Jean and Paul Biesterveld, Little Chute; Dan and Karen Keyzers, Little Chute; Jane and Tim Cason-Gossett, Kimberly; and numerous cousins, friends and other family members.
    He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Raymond "Fritz" and Geraldine Keyzers; and an uncle, Thomas Keyzers.
    The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Richard L. Allen officiating. Visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH on Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
    You truly were an angel sent from God in heaven above. Your shocking death just broke the hearts of everyone you loved. When I found out that you had died, I thought that they were wrong.
    You were so alive and then just like that, you were gone.
    A flame blown out in seconds, Confirming our worst fears — A light that shines no more on earth for which we shed many tears. But still you are my beacon and I need you right now. You hear all the prayers I say because they are answered somehow. I wish that you could be here, but in a way you are. Your symbol of a flag goes everywhere with me, so I know you can't be far. It still is quite a shock to me that you had to die; but no one will forget you and I love you, and goodbye.
