    RACINE - Sr. Blanche Arendt OP, 94, passed away at Beverly Living Center, Kenosha, on Wednesday, April 25, 2007. Edna Mary Arendt was born July 30, 1912, to John and Theresa (nee: Sallinger) Arendt in Hydro, Okla. On September 21, 1929, she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in 1930, she was given the religious name, Sr. Blanche. She professed her first vows in 1932 and her final vows in 1938. Sr. Blanche spent many years in service to others in teaching. She began her ministry in 1929 at St. Mary, Racine. Other places in Wisconsin where she served, were St. John, Little Chute; SS. Peter and Paul, Green Bay; Holy Cross, Kaukauna; St. Joseph and St. Rose, Racine; St. Mary, Tomah; and St. Mary, Belgium. She also served in Michigan. After moving to Siena Center in 1978, she volunteered in the Senior Companion Program for 22 years making visits to homes and nursing homes and brought comfort to visitees through her presence and her prayers. In February, 2006, she became a resident at Beverly Living Center, Kenosha. Sr. Blanche is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates; sister-in-law, Ann (Edgar); nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, John, Andrew, and Edgar; and her sisters, Dorothy Thomas and Alverda Emster. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Siena Center Chapel Friday, April 27, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery on Highway 32. Visitation will be at the chapel on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time for the Liturgy with a Remembering service at 1:15 p.m. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Eco-Justice Center have been suggested. The Racine Dominicans would like to extend their thanks to the staff who cared for Sr. Blanche at Beverly Living Center. MARESH-MEREDITH AND ACKLAM FUNERAL HOME 803 Main Street 634-7888.
