Obituary:
Ryan, M. Marion, M. Marion Ryan, 91, former Hancock, Michigan, resident died on Monday, June 23, 2008, in Appleton. She was born October 7, 1916, in Hancock to the late Thomas K. and Katherine (Sheehan) Ryan. She was a graduate of St. Patrick High School in Hancock, MI, and from St. Joseph School of Nursing also in Hancock, MI. She began her nursing career as a Registered Nurse at the Trimountain Hospital. She spent most of her adult life in the Detroit area, surrounded by good friends and working in a career that she enjoyed as a dedicated nurse in the field of occupational health at Murray Body Corp. in Detroit and at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren, MI. She moved to Appleton, WI, in 2003 to be closer to family upon the death of her brother, Tom, who lived in Royal Oak, MI.
She was a member of the Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Royal Oak, MI, and St. Bernard Catholic Church in Appleton.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Ryan Marquardt, and two brothers: Thomas Ryan and William (and his wife, Dorothy Brule) Ryan.
She is survived by nieces: Mary (Lee) Biekkola, Appleton; Kathy (Irv) Buck, Parker, CO; Marion Marquardt Florman, Littleton, CO; nephew, Thomas (Cecilia) Ryan, Merrillville, IN: great-nieces: Courtney (Brian) Buck-Vickers, Kristin (Jamie) Biekkola-Versteggen, Tracy Biekkola and Katelyn Biekkola; and a great-nephew, Christopher (Ann-Christin Kaiser) Buck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock, Michigan, with Rev. Fr. Sebastian Ettolil, MCSB to officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton, MI. Friends may call at the Church for an hour before the services.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Peabody Manor and ThedaCare Hospice for their dedicated and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1534, Appleton, WI, in the name of Marion Ryan. The O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock is assisting the family with her arrangements.
