Obituary:
Helen Filyes, 95 of Brillion, WI, died on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at Ledgeview Nursing Center in De Pere. She was born on December 30, 1913, in the Town of Clayton, WI, daughter of Henry and Lousia Danke. She married Lawrence Filyes on August 2, 1952, in Brillion. Helen was actively involved in her church, where she served faithfully in many areas. She also served many years with Faith Alliance in Chilton for the Calumet County Handicap Sunday school. She also served her country and community as Vice Chairman of the republican party and worked with the U.S. Census Bureau.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Pat Filyes of Green Bay; four grandchildren: Heather, David and wife Nicole, Brian and Teresa; a great-grandchild, Tristian Filyes.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28, 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 Libal St. Green Bay, WI. Burial will be in the United Methodist Cemetery, Forest Junction. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the Moody Bible Institute in Helen's name. The Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion is assisting the family with arrangements.
