    Myrtle (Sambs) Bernegger, New LondonFormerly of Hortonville, age 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesd ay morning at the New London Family medical Center. She was born on Octob er 30, 1906, the second of seven children of Charles and Mary (Brill) Samb s. She graduated from Hortonville High School in a commercial course and p ut that to use as a long time bookkeeper for Freiburger's Dodge & Chrysl er dealership and Werner & Raschke Ford in New London. Myrtle also serv ed for many years as clerk for the Town of Hortonia and between her many j obs and responsibilities still found time to help with farm chores and gar dening at the home farm. On April 12, 1985 she married Fritz Bernegger. My rtle and Fritz spent happy days together both at a winter home in Arizo na as well as their home in Hortonville until Fritz's death in 1988. Myrt le is survived by a step-son, Gary (Joan) Bernegger, New London; a step-da ughter, Brenda (Dave) Wenberg, Waupaca; plus Gary & Brenda's children a nd grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother Joe (Helen) Samb s, Hortonville; and brother-in-law, Wesley Martin, Hortonville. Also ma ny nieces and nephews. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Frit z, three sisters, Armella, Margaret and Helen. Two brothers Carl, and Fran cis. Myrtle lived her last years at the Temple Apartments in New London wh ere she made many friends and spent happy hours playing cards and visitin g. She was active in the AARP organization and served as the group's treas urer until the time of her illness. The family wishes to acknowledge the t ender and compassionate care provided to Myrtle in her last days by the nu rses and staff at the New London Hospital. She could not have been in bett er hands. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at S t. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville with Fr. David J. Funk, O FM Cap. officiating. Internment will be in the Most Precious Blood Cemete ry in New London. Friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in N ew London on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. when the procession wi ll leave for the church. A memorial fund has been established .
