    Nachtwey, OSF, Sister Rosella
    Sister Rosella (Mary Lee) Nachtwey, 86, passed peacefully to her eternal reward on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010.
    She was born April 11, 1923. in Menominee, Mich., to Mary Ellen (Pallado) and Francis Nachtwey.
    Sister Rosella entered the community of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, Bay Settlement in August 1940. She was received into the Order in August 1941 and celebrated her diamond jubilee in August 2001.
    Sister Rosella served as a primary teacher in the Green Bay Diocese at St. Matthew, Green Bay, Meeme, Casco, Darboy, Howard, Institute, Denmark, De Pere and at St. Anthony, Columbus, Texas. She also taught summer school for many years at Lincoln School, De Pere and the Sacred Heart Center, Oneida.
    Upon retirement to the motherhouse in 1978, she tutored students at St. Boniface, De Pere and Holy Cross, Bay Settlement.
    Sister Rosella is survived by her sister-in-law, Judith (James) Nachtwey; nieces and nephews; and by the members and Associates of her community, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ralph, James, Francis and Lawrence; and sisters-in-law, Joan, Louise and Catherine.
    Sister will be remembered for her love of community, teaching, ministry of prayer, nature especially watching birds at the feeders, four-leaf clovers and roses of all sorts, and her long suffering through illness.
    Friends may call at St. Francis Convent, 3110 Nicolet Drive, Green Bay on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at 4 p.m. for the reception of the body and visitation. The Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m. Visitation for Sr. Rosella will continue on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at Holy Cross Church, 3009 Bay Settlement Road, from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Reverend David Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in the convent cemetery.
    The Sisters of St. Francis and the family of Sister Rosella wish to express their gratitude to the nursing staff at St. Francis Convent and Parkview Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care and support.
