Nancy L. Frey, (nee Ashenbrenner), 64, Naples, Fla., formerly Orland Park, Ill., died Friday, July 13, 2007. Nancy was born July 1, 1943, in Menasha, Wis., daughter of the late Urban and Verla Ashenbrenner. Nancy was a graduate of Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1964. After becoming the director of the psychiatric unit at Mount Sinai, Nancy chose to broaden her skills and specialize in long-term care administrative nursing. For five years, Nancy enjoyed her position as Northern Regional Supervisor for all Illinois state nursing surveyors in the Chicagoland area. This lead to co-ownership of many long-term care facilities that benefited from her vast knowledge of state laws and regulations, therefore improving standards statewide for many residents of those facilities through the years. After she and her husband retired to Naples, Fla., she continued to share her skills as a home health nurse from 1998 until she became ill in December 2005. Nancy lost her battle to lung cancer after a courageous and inspirational 19 months.
Nancy is the beloved wife and best friend of Herman W. Frey; Fond and loving stepmother to Lorraine (Jerry) Bieneman and Michelle (Michael) Grunauer. Loving and devoted sister of Margaret Krysiak, favorite aunt of Jeffrey Krysiak and David (Angie) Krysiak. Fond sister of John (Sharon) Ashenbrenner. Loving sister-in-law of Gloria Smith, Carol Specht, Sandra Sanders, and William Frey. Loving daughter-in-law of Eleanore Frey. Also, a special acknowledgement to the light of Nancy's life, her Yorkie, Davasha.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday, July 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10 a.m. at St. William Church. Interment Private.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to Humane Society of Collier County, 370 Airport Pulling Road, Naples, FL 34104 would be most appreciated.
