Obituary:
Cleon L. Winter, age 85 of Embarrass, WI, passed away Wednesday evening April 28, 2010 at the Shawano Medical Center. Cleon was born on May 27, 1924 in the Town of Union, Waupaca County, WI. He was the son of the late Louis and Ella (Kluth) Winter. Cleon grew up in the Town of Union and graduated from Clintonville High School in 1943. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 where he served on a PT Boat in the Southwest Pacific during WWII. Cleon was later united in marriage to Germaine Malueg on June 9, 1947 in Waukon, IA. Shortly after marriage the couple moved to Embarrass where they have resided since. Cleon was employed as a machinist for Atlas Conveyor Co. and New London Engineering & Nordberg Inc retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Clintonville VFW Post #664 and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, repairing things, and gardening. Survivors include: His wife Germaine. A daughter: Nancy (Leroy) Schoepke, Shawano. 4 sons: Charles Winter, Ogema. Larry (Patsy) Winter, Wittenberg. Thomas (Mary) Winter, Appleton. Matthew (Vaunda) Winter, Irmo, SC. 4 grandchildren: Stephanie (fiancé: Derek Lund) Rutz, Appleton. Jennifer Winter, Madison. Paul & Sarah Winter, Appleton. His great-grandson: Christian Jobe, Appleton. A sister: Virginia Montoure, Shawano. Also many other relatives and friends. Cleon was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gordon, and 4 sisters: Agnes Sabee; Selma Fredrick; Elnora Winter; & Sylvia Winnie. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 1, 2010 at 11 AM at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville with the Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery also in Clintonville with military graveside rites being conducted by VFW Post #664 & American Legion Post #63 of Clintonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established by Cleon's family.
